She

She;
sits there
scared and alone,
betrayed and confused.

doing nothing wrong,
nothing out of the ordinary.

just a generic girl,
living a life
not worth the pain,
hating every second of every hour.

every day
drags by
so agonizingly slow.
it seems as if
the hands on the clock
are stuck,
frozen in their own time.

wanting to get away,
going anywhere but here.
hitting age eighteen
and then the road
without looking back,
without a second glance.
cannot stay any longer.

head reeling,
gut wrenching,
legs weakening.

procrastinating isn't working.

what is happening?

leaving won't help;
the problems always come
rushing back,
chasing her tail
and pinning it on her back.

nothing but high hopes,
and crushed dreams
lie in her wandering mind.

cloud nine was shattered long ago.

meadows and sunflower fields
were destroyed along the way.
