Her Secret

It was a secret,
Some place almost no one knew about.
Almost.

A girl,
Her family lost at sea,
Found an island.

She made it her home.
She called it her secret.
"Mine, all mine,"
She would say.

Coconuts and palm trees
All around.
Green leaves and cocoa beans
Scattered everywhere.

Her heart,
Though physically in her body,
Was in the depths of the island,
And her mind,
Not fully developed yet,
Was in the clouds.

Always looking down from those hands,
Those stone cold hands
Holding her secret in their palms,
She couldn't help but wonder
How this place came to be.

The stars shown bright
At night.
The sun beat down
During the day.

Looking for adventure,
She spoke to whoever
The hands belonged to.
She said,
"Thank you.
Thank you for keeping my secret."
