"Hayeon-a."
With tender gaze, he reached for her hand that was placed on the table in which the girl looked up to meet his face that was now uncovered by the mask he wore earlier.
"Three months was too long, I didn't know how I made it." Sehun chuckled, using his thumb to caress the back of her hand.
She only soundly smiled, looking back down to their now intertwined fingers the idol initiated.
"How about you? How were you in those three months?"
He looked so happy, overjoyed in seeing her again in a long time that made the weight on her chest grow heavier.
"I quit."
She finally said it.
Sehun's eyebrows twitched, yet his smile never left his lips.
"I left SM, Sehun. Being an idol, I figured it's not really for me." Lowering her head, the lass jumbled words in her head to form the next ones she would utter.
"Why are you telling me this just now?"
"You were away," said Hayeon, in which for a moment sounded so hurt that Sehun couldn't stand. "I wanted to tell you when we personally meet."
"Do you want to talk more about it?" the idol worried.
"It—"
A waiter came in just as Hayeon was about to word out her thoughts. Sehun immediately retracted his hand from hers and she nibbled her lips, getting even more anxious of what they could be once she finally lets out what was really bothering her.
She patiently waited as Sehun ordered their food, who from time to time asked for her agreement to some of the dishes he mentioned to the waiter, that she only nodded at.
"Are you alright?" the idol asked once the waiter was out of sight.
"Of course," she beamed.
"Are you sure?"
Giggling, she replied, "Yes."
While they were waiting for their order to arrive, Sehun went on sharing how everything was in their preparation for their comeback. Giddy. He acted so well but Hayeon saw through how he tried to pull it off so flawlessly.
"What's wrong?"
She interjected and slowly, Sehun's smile torn into a frown, dropping his gaze from her soft knowing orbs.
"It's just hard these days..." he trailed. "We try so hard to act normal but it never will be the same."
"Why not?"
"You do know Kris Hyung and Luhan Hyung just left, right?"
That momentarily made Hayeon halt, reluctantly nodding as she listened to him, word per word.
