. . .

MY EYES widen the moment I hear her words, and all I want to do right then and there is to scream my head off in excitement. Mingyu must understand what my smile means, because the corners of his lips curve upwards as well and he envelopes me in a bear hug as I thank whoever is speaking on behalf of the café.

When I hang up, Mingyu instantaneously congratulates me, saying that he's happy that I've managed to find a job so quickly. I simply squeal in response, thrilled beyond belief.

"Yah, you're actually legit?" I say, surprised. We'd only met some like five days ago, and yet my life's already taken its turn towards the good end.

The boy furrows his eyebrows at my words, confused. "What do you mean, I'm actually legit?"

"I mean that you actually meant what you said! You're actually an agent whose job is to make people's wishes come true?"

He sighs, exasperated as ever. "Yah, Crystal-ah. You're only believing me now?"

I giggle, not actually meaning to offend him. "Sorry, sorry. It's not my fault that I'm a realist."

"But I am real!" He pouts, crossing his arms in front of him.

"I can see that now,"

Mingyu huffs, and goes back to his spot on the couch. I, feeling sort of guilty, take the spot next to him and happily sit down even though this causes the boy to let out a groan.

"Mingyu-ah~" I start, tilting my head and looking up at him. He doesn't respond, though, and his eyes stay glued to the TV in front of us. I frown, upset that he's giving me the silent treatment, and keep calling for him in hopes that he will give in and actually say something back.

After minutes passed with me saying his name and him ignoring me completely, I decide that desperate times call for desperate measures.

"Oppa," I speak, making his eyes widen and causing him to turn towards me with shock written clearly on his face. He blinks hard, seeming unable to believe that I had called him that, and his lips are parted as if wanting to say something.

"Oppa, let's go do something to celebrate!" I urge, grinning from ear to ear.

Mingyu looks at me blankly for a second or so, but then simply responds with a "tsk" before turning to the TV once more.

I roll my eyes at how dramatic he is being right now, but proceed to stand up and sigh. "Oh, well. Guess I'll just see if Vernon or Wonwoo-oppa wants to accomp—"

A hand grabs my wrist then, making me stop talking and look down at it. Mingyu still isn't looking at me, but with a monotone voice, he says, "Sit."

"Why should I?" I ask, suddenly acting up. The boy only gives me a look, and that alone is somehow enough to make me comply to his words.

We sit there in silence, the only sound in the room coming from the TV. Every once in a while, I would sneak glances at him, and he, too, would do the same, or at least from what I've seen through my peripheral vision.

I decide to go out on a walk then, rather than having to sit here in awkward silence doing absolutely nothing, but not before sneaking one last look at him. My breath hitches when I see that he, too, has his eyes on me, and I notice how significantly softer his gaze is now.
