"SO DID YOU two have fun?" Vernon asks, giving Mingyu and I knowing looks as soon as he and Dong Jun get off the ferris wheel.

The blue-haired boy scoffs and rolls his eyes, while my cheeks flush a bright pink. I mentally scold myself for blushing every so often and making everything the more obvious, but I honestly just can't help the feeling of warmth this assigned agent of mine gives me.

"Oh, nice necklace there, Soo Jung." The part-Caucasian adds, a smirk lingering on his lips.

"T-Thanks..."

"Okay, so—" Dong Jun cuts in, earning all of our attentions. "Are we done here?"

I look up at Mingyu, who nods his head immediately in return. "Yeah, it's getting late. We should go."

"Alright, then." Vernon sighs, nodding as well. "I'll see you guys later, then. Happy birthday once again, Soo Jung!" He chirps, waving as he backs away. Dong Jun gives me a shy smile and a small wave as well, before following in the other boy's footsteps.

"Come on," Mingyu whispers in my ear, his warm breath tickling the nape of my neck and sending shivers down my spine. "I've got one more thing to show you."

"Oh?" I ask, surprised. "Should we call Vernon and D—"

"No." He curtly replies, a tone of finality in his voice. "I want to show you it, not them."

"Okay, okay."

The boy grabs my hand and starts pulling me once more, weaving through the crowd fluidly like water.

"Yah! Wait up!" I huff, a little breathless from having to keep up with him. "My legs aren't as long as yours!"

He looks at me for a moment then, making me feel suddenly self-concious. Finally, though, after an awkward couple of seconds or so, he sighs and turns around, kneeling on the ground.

"Hop on." He instructs, gesturing at his own back.

"Mingyu, I can walk." I tell him, giving him a pointed look. "I was just kidding, don't worry about it."

"Aish,"

The next thing I know, my feet are off the ground, both legs hanging from either sides of Mingyu's back. He is holding them in place, and I have to circle my arms around his neck in order not to fall off.

"Mingyu! Put me down!" I whine, afraid that if I move so much as an inch, the boy will lose balance and cause the two of us to fall over.

"Relax," He answers, already continuing to walk through the sea of people at the carnival. "We'll get to the surprise faster this way, anyway." Mingyu looks over his shoulder at me then, giving me a smile that could poissbly melt any girl's hearts. "Besides, I wouldn't want your legs to get tired because of me."

He turns his head back at the people in front of him, in which I am grateful for because now he can't see me biting on my lip in order to suppress the smile that is threatening to break out on my face.

The way to the 'surprise' is then made in a comfortable silence. I don't exactly know just what I should talk to him about, and to be honest, I'm just busy trying to process all of today's events at the moment.

Unexpectedly, the trip doesn't take too long; it's either that, or maybe I just got so wrapped up in my thoughts that I forgot about time's existence.

"I'm gonna put you down, alright?" He asks, snapping me from my reverie.

I nod even though he can't even see me, and carefully slide off his back.

"Where are we?" I ask, looking around. There doesn't seem to be anything particularly interesting here, making me all the more curious of just what he has in store of me. "What are we here for?"

"You'll see," He replies, smirking and positioning my body beside his. Mingyu then tips my chin upwards so that I am looking at the sky, but all I see is nothing but darkness.

I furrow my eyebrows together, confused. I am about to ask him about what I'm actually supposed to be looking at, but decide against it when he starts counting backwards.

"Five... Four..."

I look at him for a brief moment, the smile he wore still on his lips, and I can't help but smile myself; his happiness is contagious like that.

"Three... Two..."

I still don't know what we're waiting for, but as I study Mingyu's soft features under the moonlit sky, I feel nothing but warmth and gratitude in my chest, and look back up just in time to see a stream of red shooting upwards.

"One."

Fireworks start exploding then, dotting the dark sky in numerous colors. It's a beautiful sight to behold, and though I've seen a couple of firework shows before in my life, this particular one seems a little different, somehow, but in a good way.

The people around us stop to admire the painted sky as well, some gasping and commenting here and there about how there isn't supposed to be a firework show tonight.

Somehow, this doesn't surprise me, not really. I just slowly turn to Mingyu, already knowing that he's the one behind all of this.

The boy isn't even watching the fireworks; his eyes are on me, and I swear that I can feel my heartbeat synchronizing with the booms and claps of the fireworks.

"Happy birthday, Crystal."
