Lance vs Keith x reader - Here for you

You looked at the letter once more. There were four guys in the castle that could have set this all up for you. Keith, Lance, Hunk and Shiro. You remembered that you had a letter earlier on from Lance. You pulled out the piece of paper and saw that the handwriting matched. 'Oh no,' You thought.

Lance was a great friend, but you didn't you... Like him... "I am sorry" You whispered, walking out of the room with your arms clinging to one another. You felt bad walking out on such an extravagant offer. It was sad knowing that Lance had put so much effort into making all this for you and just because you didn't like him. You did your best not to look back and walked out into the hallway.

You sat in the lounge room wondering what to do. You were broken knowing that someone else was hurt or sad because of your 'no.' The silence was broken when you heard the fluttering of paper. You looked up and saw the familiar shape of an eagle flying in the air. You widened your eyes as you saw the magnificent craftsmanship soar in the air. You walked up to the origami and plucked it out of the air.

On one of the wings was a sentence written in red ink. 'Open up' It said. You sighed and carefully opened the eagle starting from the *chest and eventually ended up with an A4 paper with a page full of words. You groaned and wondered who else you were going to crush.

Dear (y/n),

Happy Valentines Day. As I said, I'm no good with girls, but I hope that you will be mine. I have to say it, your smile makes me feel warm. Ha! I have to admit, I'm not good with words either. Unlike Lance who always makes the girls swoon and fall head over heels for him, I've always been a loner. My wish today is to show you how I feel. I hope you will accept.

Now you knew who this person was. Red ink and a mention of Lance within the paper, it all lead to the one and only Keith. Your cheeks flushed red.

"(y/n)?" A voice asked, accompanied by a lone pair of footsteps. You turned around, your hair waving past you to reveal Keith. You smiled.

"Cheesy I know," Keith said, scratching the back of his neck.

"No, I like it" You beamed. Keith smiled, not because you liked his idea, but because you were smiling.

When he looked into your eyes he saw your heart. Brave, willing, passionate and firm; a strong flame that was steady and always there. He liked to think that sometimes she was a lot like him. In turn, you saw something too, every time your eyes met. You saw a loyal friend, always there and ready to help. To you, he was a lot like Shiro only a bit more... Reckless. You loved that about. The hothead with a heart of gold.

"So..." Keith said, snapping out of it. 

"Oh! Uh..." You stammered.

"I've... Got something planned for you and I was wondering if you would like to come" Keith said nervously.

"Okay," You smiled. Keith and you raced each other to the bridge.

"What are we doing here?" You asked curiously.

"I'm taking you somewhere with Red, but you'll have to keep quiet about it" Keith smirked.

"You know, only one person can zip line all that way to the Lions" You pointed out.

"Ha ha! Good observation, but we're not here to board Red, we're here to grab some coordinates" Keith answered.

"Without Allura's permission?" You asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Are you game?" Keith asked.

"Oh I'm game all right" You smirked.

"Okay close your eyes" Keith commanded.

"Okay," You sighed. Keith quickly copied the coordinates of a planet and sent it to Red. Allura then walked into the bridge. You turned around and saw Allura walking in, eyes fixed on your and Keith.

"Keith are you ready?" Allura asked.

"Wait-what?" You asked. "I thought you were-"

"That was a joke, in order for this to work I need Allura to play a part" Keith butted in.

"Just don't get caught, stay too long there or get lost" Allura cautioned.

"We won't," Keith smiled, pressing the final buttons.

"Okay got it, come on (y/n)" Keith held you by the hand and led you to the bays.

"I know how to get there Keith!" You laughed, admiring his childishness. Allura watched the two of you run off.

"The wonderful sight of love" Allura sighed.

You and Keith quickly boarded Red and piloted towards a wormhole. "Hey, I thought the Lions could make their own wormholes" You commented, remembering when Blue created a wormhole to Arus where you found the Castle of Lions.

"Yeah, but I had to tell someone that I was going and in order for permission to leave otherwise, Allura would have to supervise by being in control of the wormhole" Keith explained.

"Oh..." You said, suddenly feeling eyes staring at your back.

"Hang on tight" Keith smirked, pushing Red into full throttle. You slid back a bit, but lurched your right arm and grabbed hold of a handle that stuck out. You watched as you and Keith entered the wormhole. The second you passed through a brilliant flash of light blinded you. You jerked forward from the quick shift of gravity and was sent flying back when you reached the end of the wormhole.

"I know that all Lions are meant to have one pilot, meaning one seat, but can we please add passenger seats for dates?" You begged, slowly rubbing the back of your head.

"You're complaining about passenger seats when you're back home?" Keith asked.

"What?!" You gasped, rushing towards the front of the cockpit. "Earth," You whispered.

"It's as far as I can go without being detected, I'm sorry" Keith apologized. You didn't answer. You stared at your home planet as it slowly rotated. The familiar blue of the oceans and shapes of all the continents began to fill an empty void inside of you.

"It's beautiful," You smiled, stretching your hand forwards to touch the cool glass.

"I'm glad I could bring you here" Keith smiled.

"Thank you" You smiled, "This means a lot to me." You walked over to Keith and gave him a meaningful hug. "I didn't realise how much I missed home until you brought me back. And now that I'm home again I feel whole again." You had knelt down when you gave Keith a hug. Keith smiled. Keith got off his chair and sat on the floor with you.

"I won't always be able to make you happy like this again, but I'll try to even when we're half a galaxy away from Earth" Keith promised.

"You don't have to; you being here makes me feel happy" You smiled.

"How? I mean-"

"Keith!" You butted in. "I know that is straightforward and it's Valentine's Day, but loving someone isn't just giving people gifts or making people happy. It's being there for that person no matter what" You smiled.

You felt the silence when Keith didn't answer. "So... After this I'm always going to be here for you" You promised, pulling back from your hug. You and Keith sat together, bodies facing opposite directions, but looking at one another in the eye.

"(y/n), thank you" Keith said. You smiled knowingly and intertwined your fingers with Keith. "You mean a lot to me (y/n)" Keith said, wavering his voice.

"I know because you mean a lot to me too" You replied.
