Chapter 22: The Letter
Ginny opened the envelope, curious to find out what was inside. Tears came to her eyes and she gasped as she read the letter.
"So this is the reason Hermione was so eager to come with us. The only reason. " Ginny thought to herself.
"Ginny! We're having dinner!" Ginny heard her best friend calling as she put the letter on the table, not bothering to put the letter back into its envelope.
Ginny rushed down the stairs two steps at a time to see Hermione, Harry, Ron and Mrs Weasley sitting at the table.
" Your dad and Percy are still working at the ministry and George is working late today. Said the shop had too many customers." Mrs Weasley said, shrugging.
Ginny nodded and took her seat in between Harry and Hermione.
" Dig in." Mrs Weasley smiled. They chatted and laughed merrily as they ate.
" Hey, it's still a little early for bed. How about a drink in Hogsmeade?" Ron asked after they all finished dinner.
" Great idea! You four can go out for a drink while I do some tidying around the house... it's a mess!" Mrs Weasley said as she looked at the four of them.
" Are you sure you don't want to come, Mrs Weasley?" Harry asked politely.
" No, No... you four go. You don't want an old woman like me to ruin your night." Mrs Weasley said and Ginny shrugged.
" If you're sure then..." Harry said and they were about to go out when Hermione stopped.
" I forgot my cloak and my wand. They're in me and Ginny's room. I'll just go get them. Be right back." Hermione said hurriedly as she disappeared up the stairs.
Ginny then let out a shriek. The letter! It was on the room table! Why didn't she put the letter back into its envelope? Ginny groaned.
" What's wrong?" Harry asked Ginny.
" Nothing." Ginny said quickly before running up the stairs, going after Hermione.
Too late. When she opened the door, she saw tears falling from Hermione's face as she read through the letter.
