Another ending

Read THINGS HAPPEN CHAPTER FIRST!

Mitch pov
As I said those words the monitor made a big noise and it started to beep again. My heart felt like it stopped. Doctors came rushing in and I was on the verge of passing out.

M:What is happening??

The doctors did some check up.

D:It is a miracle. She is alive. However she is in coma.
M:So..?
D:She can hear you.

The doctors left and we stood in awe. My bodu trembled as I sat down by her.

M:I knew you would make it. I love you.

I planted a small kiss on her hand. The beep was steady and it felt like my whole life depended on it.

D: Mr. Grassi
M:Yes.
D:So Mrs. Grassi will be undergoing some tests everyweek to see how she is doing.
M:Okay

The doctors informed me and the rest of people left. Only me and Kirstie was in the room.

I listened to the steady beeps. All the memories flashed back to me. I remembered all the times. I proposed,she said yes.

M:Thanks Kirstie for staying.

An year passed....

Still Mitch pov
I came back to Kirstie's room. It has been an year and a month since Kirst got into coma.

M:Hey babe. I am back.

I talked to her about the things Paloma and Jane did. I kept on talking until doctors came.

D:Mr. Grassi we need to have a talk

By his voice and his face expression, I knew this was not a good news. We walked to their office and as I sat down he began talking.

D:Mr. Grassi, Mrs. Grassi's brain is slowly dying. If half of her brain dies, she will never be herself again. She will not be one human being but just a living organism. She can't think or speak.

My heart thumped loudly. My head was dizzy and my vision was blurry.

M:And what can we do to stop that..?
D:Nothing. If she wakes up in time she might be able to have a normal life but it is unlikely.

I almost fainted. I got myself together.

M:How much time do I have?

He sadly gave me a sigh. This was bad. Like real bad.

D:A week

I got back from the office and I sat down next to kirst.

M:Babe I know you aren't ready but I need you to wake up.

Her beeps were steady. She didn't move a bit.

M:Please. Please. Please. Just open your eyes for me.

Tears fell but it did nothing. I hoped she would wake up like a movie. But thisbwas real life. She didn't move. She didn't do anything

M: Please Kirst.... Just... Please..

I stayed the whole six days with her. I wanted her to wake up but she wouldn't. Everyday was just horrible. I always would cry out loud.

Jane and Paloma stopped by everyday. They really missed mommy.

After the girls'visit Doctirs took Kirstie for some tests. I sat there waiting for her. I looked at myself in the mirror. I looked horrible. I had stubbles and I had shades under my eyes.

D: Mr. Grassi?

The doctor came back and Kirstie's bed was placed. I looked at the doctor in hope. But he didn't look at me.

M:Yes?
D:Her brain is 80 percent dead. She is brain dead. You have to let her go.

The doctors explained how I have to cut the powerlines that made Kirstie alive. But I wasn't listening. My head was spinning.

D:I will give you some time.

The doctors left. I sat next to Kirst. My mind went blank.

M:Kirst baby....

I held her hand. My tears dropped. It just fell and flowed to the floor.

M: Thanks for staying with me another year.

I patted her hand softly. I gave her a small kiss on her forhead.

M: And I really love you. I hope you know that.

The steady beep was loud and my cries were soft. The doctors came in.

D:You have to let her go now.

I slowly stood up and gave her a longing kiss again on her forhead and her hand.

M:I love you.

I pulled out the cord for air. The steady beep was still there. But Kirstie wasn't moving or panting for air. She just laid there perfectly still. Her brunette locks beautifully placed.

The doctors told me to pull the last cord now. I held the cord. But I couldn't pull it. I knew by this, Kirstie was officially dead.

M: I can't.

I started to sob out loudly. The doctors gave me a sad face.

D:Mr. Grassi nurses can help you.

The nurse was about to pull the last cord but I stoppes her. I got myself together.

M:Babe I really love you but I will let you go.

Sobs camenout and I heled the cord. My hands trembled.

M:I love you.

I pulled the cords and all the machines were turned off.

M:I love you.

I gave her a kiss on her forhead, nose and finally her lips. There were no longer steady beep. Only the long beep was there to tell me that the love of my life was gone now.

M:I.. I love you.

I just stumbled to the floor and cried out loud. The long beep blended in with my cries.
