Samantha's POV

While Asher was gone, I got dressed in the clothes someone had laid out for me -- which definitely weren't mine, because let's just say those would've been quite stained.

I finished filling out the form the doctor left, and all that was left to do was sit and wait.

"Knock knock."

I turned and saw Asher standing in the doorway. I grinned, "Hi."

He smiled back, and walked over to me. He grabbed my hand and kissed me on the cheek. "Sam, I would like you to meet my parents."

I looked behind Asher. The woman had a kind face, and shoulder length blonde hair. I could definitely see that the twins got most of their looks from their dad. He had the same brown, almost curly hair. Same nose, brown eyes, and smile.

"This is my mom, Cheri, and my dad, Daniel."

I offered a shy smile. "It's nice to meet you," I said with a timid wave.

"Aww, well aren't you a sweetheart." his mother was looking at me adoringly.

She rushed over and hugged me. "You've made him into a different person . . . saved him from his world of sadness. I can never repay you for that, but I can love you like my own daughter if you'll accept me."

Apparently I didn't have to worry about not being accepted. "There is nothing I would like more," I said, wrapping my arms around her as the tears started to fall freely. I may have lost my own family, but I gained a new one when I gained Asher.

I felt a pair of arms wrap around us, and then another, and we were all hugging with Cheri and I crying like babies -- and I'm fairly sure Asher shed a tear or two along with us.

I wasn't alone anymore.

And it felt great.

A/N

I didn't want to ruin the ending with an author's note, so I'm putting it here. Thank you for reading this tiny little book. I'm so sorry it took me almost a year to finish it. But now it is finished, and I love it.
