We drove in absolute silence. I wasn't sure why what I said had offended him so much.
When we arrived at the small restaurant where we decided to have lunch, Nathan still wouldn't change the subject.
"Why won't you answer me?" He asked, looking hurt. "Why do you think you aren't a lady? Who is it who planted that idea in your pretty little head, because I will track them down for hurting my friend."
My face brightened, "I'm your friend?" I asked timidly, not sure whether he meant it or not.
He looked shocked, and my face fell.
"Of course you are my friend, why would you even have to ask that?" He looked astonished.
I looked down at my food, "Because I don't have any friends."
His jaw dropped and his eyes bulged. "You go to school right? How have you not made friends?"
I started pushing the food on my plate around with my fork, "It's not like I've never tried... It's just that nobody likes me..."
"WHAT?!" He exclaimed, outraged. "How could anyone not like you? How is that even humanly possible? You are smart, strong, beautiful... I just don't understand."
Beautiful?
I finally met his eyes, "It probably has to do with my parents."
Did I really just say that?

What is your favorite type of candy?
I'm just in that type of mood. It takes a lot of energy to write more than four chapters before 1:00 in the afternoon.
