Samantha's POV
How do really I know though . . . It isn't like I have ever felt this way before. Do I just like him as a friend? It seems like more, but I really haven't had a friend, so I really don't know---
"Whatcha thinkin' 'bout?" Asher asked, still playing with my hair.
"Us," I blurt out, not thinking.
Crap . . . I shouldn't have said that.
Asher smirked, "That didn't come out right." I said, and his face fell . . . but only for a second. If I had blinked, I would have missed it.
What's up with him?
A look of worry flashed over his face. "Oh, Sam, I'm so sorry. You've been out for a week! Are you hungry? Thirsty? Can I get you anything? Oh, I'm so stupid . . ." He rambled on.
"A week!" I exclaimed.
It wasn't even a day wherever I was . . . How on Earth could I have been out for seven days?
I calmed down and looked back to Asher. "Now that you mention it, I---" I was interrupted by my stomach loudly growling. I looked down sheepishly, and I felt the blush creeping across my face. "am a little hungry . . . but I guess you could already figure that out."
His eyes widened and he looked worried again. "The nurse doesn't even know you're awake. I should have told the doctor the minute you woke up . . . I'll be right back." He got up to leave and ran out the door.
People are funny when they worry about you.
"Oh, and Sam," he said, popping his head back in the room. "I'll see about getting you some food too."
"That means a lot Asher. Thanks for being here for me. You have no idea how much this all means to me." I said, a tear slipping down my cheek.
Asher flashed a caring smile. "I'd do anything for you, Sam." He said, before ducking back out the door.
What does that mean?

Asher's POV
Smooth. Way to scare her off. You just met her dude . . . slow down.
I stopped at the nurses' station. "Samantha Reed woke up about an hour ago," I said.
The nurse gave me a funny look and typed something in on her computer. "Yeah, sorry, but we don't have a Samantha Reed listed . . ." She didn't look very sorry.
Don't have her listed? She's got her own room. Do they have her name wro---
"Ohh, sorry. The car crash Jane Doe in room 1083. Her name is Samantha Reed." The nurse looked astonished.
"She just woke up . . . after seven days?" She shook the look off. "I'll get the doctor to check up on her."
I smiled. "Perfect . . . I almost forgot. Would it be okay if I got her something to eat?" I asked hopefully. I would hate to go back empty handed . . . After all, she hadn't eaten in three days.
"Oh by all means sir! I would have had someone get her something anyway. She should eat. I'll just page the doctor, and he will probably be there shortly after you get back to her." She smiled at me and returned to her work. I walked away towards the cafeteria.
I've spent too much time in hospitals . . . I know this one almost as well as I know my house. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that that isn't a good thing.
I walked up to the counter. "What would you like sir?" The lady asked me.
Uh oh, what am I going to get her? I don't even know what she likes?
"Umm, do you have a cheeseburger?" I asked.
Who can go wrong with a cheeseburger?
"Certainly," she said with a smile. "One cheeseburger coming up!" She turned and grabbed a plate and tray of toppings. "Here you go! Is there anything else I can get you? My number maybe?" She said with a flirtatious smile. I hate women like that.
"Uh, no thanks. I'm taken." I said none to kindly, taking the tray and paying for the burger.
"Oh," she said, and her face fell.
Yeah, thats right. Not everyone likes a cocky woman. Try the next sucker.
I made my way back to Sam's room, wondering if she had let her feelings show through earlier when she said, "us." Is that just wishful thinking? I sure hope not . . .

Question of the chapter:
Will you read my book Beauty of a Beast when I am done with this one?
I haven't really started writing it yet, just the blurb, but some people are excited for it already. I think I am going to wait 'til I'm done writing this one to publish what I have of that one... but I think it's going to be a good one!
