Samantha's POV

I'm starting to dislike his visits. They're always so cryptic . . . it's like he tries to confuse me by saying the strangest things possible.

I looked up to see Asher walking through the door with a cheeseburger in hand.

"How did you know I love cheeseburgers!" I exclaimed loudly, taking the cheeseburger out of his hands.

I took a big bite, and closed my eyes.

I haven't had a cheeseburger in so long. Since dad died.

"What are you thinking about? If you think that cheeseburger is delicious, you need to taste mine. That's just hospital food."

I snapped out of my reverie. "No, I was thinking about how long it's been since I last had a cheeseburger. I haven't had one since dad died. He made them every Sunday night. It was kind of a family tradition . . ."

"Should I have not gotten the cheeseburger?" Asher asked gently.

I was shocked. "No, no, that's not what I meant! I was just thinking out loud . . . and realizing how much I've missed cheeseburgers." I said with a laugh.

I saw Asher's face light up. "Good! Because I just realized what day it is."

"What?"

Asher smiled at me, "Sam, it's 9 o'clock Sunday night."

I realized what he was saying. "I guess it's a sign that some traditions will never change." I said with a smile, wondering if there was any way my dad could've had something to do with it.

"Knock, knock."

Asher and I both looked toward the door as a doctor walked in.

"Hello," he said. "I'm Doctor Grey. I understand you were in a car accident?"

"I actually hit her with my car," Asher said, sheepishly.

The doctor looked surprised. "Did you two know each other before that?"

"No," we said in unison.

The doctor laughed. "Forgive me, but I just find it a little strange how close you are for the odd circumstances."

He sounds just like Leo. No wonder this situation seems like deja vu.

"Yeah, you wouldn't really understand . . . I don't even think we really understand."

"Alright," the doctor said, looking puzzled.

"Anyway," he continued. "You were amazingly unharmed for being hit by a car. I've actually never seen anything like this before. You managed to get away with a few large scrapes and bruises." He turned to Asher. "She will be quite weak in the knees for a while. Just because nothing is broken doesn't mean nothing was harmed. Her knees took most of the stress from the impact, and you may have to help her out for a while."

He turned back to me. "If you just give us some time to process some paper work, you can leave after two days observation." He smiled and explained what we would need to do before I could leave before excusing himself and leaving the room.

Asher picked me up from the hospital. By the time the nurse came and got us to leave, we were ready.

As we walked out the doors, Asher said, "So, I was thinking we could go out for some late dinner to celebrate."

He is so thoughtful. I could spend forever with him . . .

Did I really just think that?

"That would be great." I replied.

He took me to The Burger Palace. This guy was the best! And this was also the best burger I had ever eaten.

"I'll be right back, I have to use the bathroom." I said, getting up from the table. My knees gave out, and I fell back down.

"Don't worry, I'll help you get there." Asher said.

He placed my arm around his neck and supported me as we walked to the bathroom. He stopped outside the door.

"I'll wait right here."

I smiled and thanked him for the help.

As I was washing my hands, I heard:

"Hello, Samantha."

My heart stopped. I was absolutely terrified. I'd know that voice anywhere.

"S-Seth, w-what do y-you want?"

"Oh, you'll see." He said, and I heard him take a step forward.

And then it all went black. Again.
