When the vampire arrived in town, the streets were barren. All the doors and windows were shut and a silence hung in the air, giving the vampire an uneasy feeling. He slipped his hands into his pockets and took a few hesitant steps forward, wondering where everyone was.

"Jack?" He called, looking left and right, "Patrick? Anyone?"

"Pete?"

The vampire turned around and saw his friend's daughter standing in the shadows, her teal hair blowing in the slight breeze passing through the street. "Halsey?"

"What are you doing here?" She inquired, walking up to him.

"I-I could ask you the same question," Her brief ex-lover replied, the corner of his lip unconsciously perking up into a smirk.

"I'm just...doing some things for Dad," She disclosed to him, "You want to help me? He needs two witches, two wizards, or one of each, and I'm supposed to get them for him."

The vampire shook his head. "Sorry, Hals. I'm kind of in the middle of something right now. Maybe some other time."

The girl shrugged her shoulders. "It was worth a shot. Dad's giving me until midnight to find the two. I was supposed to get Mom and Brendon, but...something came up." Her cheeks grew red in embarrassment, the past playing over in her mind.

"Wait, you were supposed to get Rachael and Brendon?"

"Yeah, but like I said, something ca-"

"Peter!"

The vampire's head snapped back to see his enemy's twin jogging towards them. The hybrid looked in the same direction, but as soon as she saw him, she vanished into thin air, never finishing her sentence. Pete straightened up and glared at the lycan. Jack flashed him a smile, and the wolf halted in his path.

"Where is everyone?" The vampire swallowed a nervous lump in his throat.

"Kenya and the pack fighters ordered a pack curfew; problem is that there are at least five more houses that need to be worked on," He explained, "They're a bit further in the bayou. Come with me." Jack turned on his heel and began to walk away, Pete following in tow.

The lycan's twin walked beside Pete and smiled at the vampire. "You don't know how grateful I am that you came."

"Yeah, yeah, just tell me what you need me to do," He replied, rubbing his upper arm anxiously and surveying his surroundings. He took note of a family of three - a husband, his wife, and their daughter. The vampire didn't recognize the two, so they must have been of lower pack status. The family of wolves were standing in front of a tipped over mobile home.

"They could use our help," Jack said while waving him to follow him. The two older wolves smiled at the lycan as he circled around the destroyed home. "I think the four of us can lift it," He proclaimed while coming to a certain spot. The vampire stood and watched as the wolves struggled to lift the tin can of a home. "Pete, a little bit of help." The vampire huffed a large breath and ran over to help. In no time, the four had the home back on its wheels.

"Thank you," The couple said in unison before the husband extended his hand out. The vampire raised a single eyebrow, giving him a strange look. The werewolf realized this and gradually dropped his arm to his side. He and his wife turned to Jack and thanked him once again. He nodded, and the couple turned on their heels and began to walk away, scooping up their child from where she was standing and entering their humble home.

Pete and Jack left the residence and ventured further into the bayou, looking for the last few houses and coming across a small broken down shack someone called a home. Kenya was working on the door that had been ripped off. A few other members were fixing the inside and clearing out any debris. Kenya looked up to see her brother and smiled, but as soon as she noticed the vampire standing behind him, her face fell and transformed into a glare.

"Jack, care to explain to me why you brought a vamp here?" She growled through clenched teeth, her grip on the door tightening, so much that the wood underneath her fingers began to break. She'd forgotten about the personal history she shared with the vampire (as well as the others), but she remembered that his kind was her enemy and that was a good enough reason for her not want him to be in her line of sight.

"He's going to help us, Kenya," Her twin explained, stepping forward.

"Help us?" She repeated with an annoyed scoff, "His kind is the cause of this. He's not here to help us."

"He's on our side, though. He wants to help us."

"Jack, look around!" Even though the twins were having it out, the blood sucker present took a glance at the sight. There were families everywhere with worried and scared faces. Usually Pete would feel no sympathy, but for some reason, this time, he did. He was a normal man and knew of village raids and attacks. "Look at the families that were dragged out of their homes and almost killed like defenseless lambs," Kenya stated while passing an angry glance, "His leader called this hit on us, so excuse me if I don't trust the vampires anymore than I did before."

"You don't have to trust me," Pete interjected, "But all I'm asking is that you believe me when I say that I don't want to cause you or your pack any more pain. The man you're referring to, Patrick, he's my best friend. But there's a demon inside of him," He explained, attracting the Lycans' attention, "It needs to go, but I can't get rid of it all on my own."

Kenya looked at the vampire for a while, hoping to see any lies or secrets in his eyes, but his whole persona said that he was sincere. Kenya approached Pete and declared, "Let me be very clear. I am willing to help save your friend, but my pack comes first. So if I come to find out that this was all just a game then all bets will be off and I will stop you and all of your vampire friends." The she wolf put her hand out as to make the agreement final.

Pete took the lycan's hand and shook it. "Deal."
