Halsey threw another stalk herbs into the fire and a large cloud of smoke rose, the demon standing a good ten feet away, near the tree line. He had his arms crossed over his chest and his back to one of the trees, leaning against it.

"How much longer is this going to take?" He asked, growing impatient.

"As long as I want it to," She replied sassily, staring into the red, orange, and yellow flames that glowed in front of her. "Keep asking me and I'll make it all night."

The demon scoffed. "I'm just wondering, god. No need to get all moody on me."

Halsey rolled her eyes and shook her hands out, closing her eyes and tilting her head back, preparing herself for the spell she was about to cast.

"What happened between us, Halsey?" He blurted out, snapping the witch-vampire hybrid out of her concentration. Her eyes popped open and shifted over to her possessed father. He stepped away from the tree and slipped his hands into his pockets. "I mean, not even a week ago, you resented me and your mother. Now you're helping me, your mom too." Halsey kept a straight face, hiding her emotions. "What did we do to make you hate us so much?"

The girl scoffed, never wanting to recall the horrible memories of her young adult years. She forced a laugh and said, "Really funny, Dad." While trying to measure a bottled ingredient and throw it into the bubbling mix, the demon circled around and looked inside, hoping to find his desires in the bottom, but the devil spawn was only greeted with a horrible stench. He backed away and greedily took in fresh air.

"I'm not trying to be funny," The demon stated, looking around at the different spices laid out and picking up a few ingredients. Halsey rolled her eyes, annoyed by his movements. "I just wanted to know what made my little girl so angry."

That's what gave it away.

Halsey knew that Kenya was right, just by those two words.

Little girl.

Her father never referred to her as a little girl - something so weak, so small, so fragile. Halsey looked at the man in front of her and, for the first time, saw him in a different light. She flung her hand in his direction and caused him to freeze.

"Halsey, what are you doing?" The demon questioned while struggling to move. The blue haired girl slowly approached the possessed man and finally saw the truth. She was displeased at the sight of following blindly behind an imposter.

"Better question would be what are you doing?" She growled, "Or even better question, what did you do to my dad?"

"Put me down!" He cried.

"Answer me!"

"Halsey!"

The hybrid threw the demon back into one of the trees, all without laying a single hand on him. His body hit the tree trunk, bending around it, and collapsed to the floor, his spine broken. He wailed in agony, completely paralyzed.

Halsey walked up to the poser and knelt down beside him, picking his numbed body up in her arms and looking into his eyes. She shook her head in disgust and brought one of her hands to his face in such a way that it was hovering over it. She closed her eyes and began to murmur a chant underneath her breath.

While she spoke a language only those who possessed magic could understand, a black smoke began to slip past Patrick's lips and accumulate above Halsey's palm. After a little while, the smoke had stopped rising out of Patrick's mouth and his head fell backwards, his body going limp. She stood up and stared at the black ball of ash that was burning like that of coal in her hand.
