I was running for my life, literally. . . but not really. The hallways of the school were dark and it was hard to see but footsteps echoed off the walls and floors.
Honestly, I was a little scared, my heart was beating fast. I had found a corner to hide in, to give me some coverage from whomever it was that was following me as well as being able to watch who was coming. All I had to defend my was silly string, a glow stick and a pink swab of cloth. The game was on.
13 HOURS EARLIER
"You just have to come Sakuraaaa," Ino whined, shaking me by the shoulders until I was dizzy.
"How do I know what to come to if I don't even know what it is?" I ask.
"Oh. Right." she said. We were currently in homeroom where Kakashi sensei was no where to be found. Over the past few days I found Ino was in a few of my classes and a small friendship was rekindling. It was awkward at first but we managed to relax and get along. The others in our class were listening to our conversation except for maybe Sasuke.
Ino let go of my shoulders, turned around and pulled out a purple flier.
"Junior game night." I read aloud then raised my eyebrows at them.
"We try and do them often, every grade does. It's the best times of the year and definitely something you don't want to miss." Ino says, getting excited. "The event is called 'survive the night' thought of by yours truly. Basically there are going to be teams of two, but the thing is you wont' know who your other partner is until later in the game. Throughout the day today you are supposed to find clues well clue somewhere in the school. The paper could be anywhere, like just lying on the ground, in lockers, behind vending machines or in a bathroom stall. They are everywhere and sometimes you to look extra hard and think creatively. Inside the envelope or paper or whatever it is it will tell you what color you are, indicating what team you play for and how to identify your partner. It also tells you what time to arrive at the school and where to find the person to get the supplies you will need for the game. Inside the paper are a list of rules too. Lots of the teachers are in on it and I don't know much more than that. I pitched the idea but I don't know everything, I wanted to be somewhat surprised. Anyways, the paper should say when the game will officially start and what we win. The prizes are usually good so it's definitely worth it."
"I don't know. . ." I said skeptically.
"It's really fun Sakura! Please come!"Hinata said softly with a smile.
"You too Hinata?" I asked, she giggled.
I thought for a moment, "Fine. But what's up with the whole different time thing?"
"Different times have different advantages like, like the earlier you get to arrive the better you can find the supplies that are hidden throughout the school. They might have bases or safe-zones set up that you can claim or possibly make your own but I'm not sure. It also gives you a little time to try and find your partner, but it's still hard because you most likely will enter at much different times. Also good for creating strategies and stuff." Ino explained. "There's more explanation in the notes that you find. Are you in?"
"Yeah, okay. Sounds fun, Temari?"
"I'm down, I've never heard of something like this."
"Great." She clapped her hands together. "Get going then."
It was perfect timing because right then the bell suddenly rung. It was both ironic and symbolic.
Throughout the day I tried my hardest to acquire a note. I looked everywhere, in lockers, sliding my hand under desks and even under trays in the cafeteria but every time it seemed someone had beat me to it.
