I kicked a pebble and watched as it skipped along the side walk and into the street. I tramped up the stairs and shoved open the door to mine and Temari's house. I kicked off my shoes and swung my back pack down off of my shoulder.
I leaned against the door and sighed deeply. I wiped some blood off my chin and stared at the blood on my fingers. I pushed off the door and made my way into the kitchen, scavenged for a rag and cleaned myself up.
I changed into some comfy athletic shorts and a sweatshirt before grabbing some Ice out of the freezer for my lip and settling comfortably on the couch. I turned on the tv and wrapped myself in a blanket, laying down and letting it all go for awhile.
It was a dreamless sleep and it seemed to pass too quickly, but when I woke up, I felt refreshed.
I looked around and checked the time; Temari wouldn't be home for a bit longer so I decided I would attend to the mountain of boxes we hadn't had time to unpack. I blasted my music, tied my hair back and threw myself into it- sweeping, dusting, pushing, organizing, the whole montage. I started to hang things up, balancing precariously on chairs, coffee tables, couch arms etc. to do so. Hammer in my hand, nails in my mouth and an eye for where to hang decor was all I needed to complete the task.
The chair wobbled beneath me and I felt a slice of panic as I tried to regain my balance. Suddenly a pair of hands were on my back, preventing me from falling. I looked behind me surprised, only to find Naruto's smiling face and Sasuke's scowling one.
The slice of panic stayed as I had no idea why they were in the house. I looked towards the door to find Temari, who only shrugged in a 'there was nothing I could do' manner followed by Ino, Hinata, Neji, Ten Ten, Kiba, and Shikamaru.
I righted myself and turned around to face them. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and pushed pause on the music, causing the loud speaker to turn off. I put my hands on my hips and looked down at everyone.
"Wow, you really spiffed up the place," Temari commented as I stepped down off the chair, "Just in time too. It looks great."
I shrugged, putting the hammer and nails on the coffee table, "I needed something to do and thought this might be the only time I have to do it," I say simply.
I blew a puff of hair out of my eyes, "I guess I'll go prepare some snacks."
"You really don't have to do that," Ino spoke up.
"Oh nonsense, if my parents taught me anything it's to feed people when they are in your home," I smiled and made my way to the kitchen. "Make yourselves comfortable," I call over my shoulder.
I opened the cupboards, pulled out some chips and found some dip to accompany them. I also found some pizza rolls and popped them into the oven and poured the chips into a bowl while I waited for them to cook.
I tapped my fingers against the counter impatiently trying to wrap my head around why everyone was here. I felt a presence behind and turned around to stand face to face with Temari.
"Sorry about all this, they insisted they wanted to come over and talk with you. I couldn't shake them off no matter what I did, they basically followed me here," She explained.
"It's fine, I just wasn't expecting it, let alone know why they would want to come here anyway," I replied.
The oven dinged. I quickly put on oven mitts and pulled out the pizza rolls. I put them onto plates and carried them out while Temari grabbed the chips and dip.
When we walked back into the living room, everyone was on the coach, chairs or floor. Temari and I placed the snacks on the coffee table then pulled up the beanbag for us to share.
