Moonlight (4/5)

A city of windows with curtains drawn.

Silence roams from dusk to dawn.

There I met the moonlight man.

Who wandered free without a plan.

When the darkness holds the sky,

He is the only light nearby.

I loved his lack of need to hide.

For I spent my dreary time inside.

"Step outside and dance with me!"

He would ask, beg, and plea.

"There's so much beauty in this town.

You cannot see it with curtains down!"

But I refused, for I was scared,

For much of who I am would be shared.

Then one day, my closest friend,

Didn't come at daylight's end.

I missed him much, my moonlight man.

So one day I put on my hat,

And opened the door of my dirty flat.

And as the sunlight seeped through the door,

I found the light I was looking for.
