To say that Cheryl was distraught about her daughter being missing was a complete understatement...
As she walked into Sarah's house after getting that horrible phone call from Garry, she felt like this wasn't even real, as if she was in some parallel universe. She wasn't even paying attention to where she was walking. It was as if something inside of her was just controlling her as if she was a robot; walking her over to the sofa and helping her to sit down beside a crying Sarah, who was trying to talk to the police yet felt like this was all her fault as she had been the one in charge of looking after Sophia. Garry was sitting on the arm of the sofa trying to tell Sarah it wasn't her fault, Kimberley was basically blowing up Cheryl's phone now as she, Nicola, and Nadine were still back at the law firm trying to hold things down after Garry had told them what was going on and why he had to hurry up and leave. Even Liam had a similar blank look on his face, his own mind wondering about Sophia as well as she had become his little buddy.
But still, nobody was as lost as Cheryl was right now.
The sound of the police officers talking, the sound of the others investigating outside to see if they could figure anything out – everything was muffled. Cheryl's mind was in a haze, thick tears were in her eyes and had completely blurred her vision. She felt almost like she didn't know what to do, like she didn't know what to even say or think. Hell, she even felt like she was sort of forgetting out to breathe or even cry.
Half of her was missing...
She knew deep down that Sophia being kidnapped was no random kidnapping; oh not at all. This was somebody who knew her. This was somebody who knew that Sophia was the key to Cheryl's entire existence, and they knew that without Sophia, Cheryl was actually nothing. She was just a shell of a once bubbly human; Sophia made her whole and kept her heart beating.
And now that Sophia was missing and nobody knew where to even look, Cheryl felt like she was actually nothing but a complete failure at everything – including being a mother...
"Cheryl...Cheryl."
She slowly looked up; Liam was staring at her as he'd been calling her name. She frowned slightly at him before realizing that her phone was ringing to from where she'd put it down on the table. She glanced at the screen through the haze of tears; JB.
She breathed out as she picked up the phone to answer. Their child was missing; she had to be civil with him...
"Hello?" her voice came out in a whisper, cracking slightly with emotion as she hadn't said anything for a while now.
"Cheryl; I need to talk to you." JB replied, his own voice quivering slightly. Cheryl noticed that quivering; something that unnerved her slightly as having fear in his voice was very unlike JB.
"I need to talk to you, too;" she breathed out, "Come to Sarah's house please; we're all here and stuff – just come to Sarah's house."
She didn't eve wait for a response; she simply hung the phone up and looked over at Sarah, who was now resting her head in her hand as she sniffled slightly as the police officers now looked around the house. She knew that it wasn't Sarah's fault, yet still, she felt like Sarah should have been watching her. She just wanted to know how the hell this even happened.
She felt like she couldn't even sit down beside Sarah right now...
She stood up and wandered to the door; Garry and Sarah looked up at her.
"Chez; I'm so sorry – I am so- "she began apologizing before Cheryl simply held her hand up to stop her. She glanced back at her before then making her way outside to sit down on the step. Sarah started crying even more, leading Liam to stand up and hand her another tissue.
