For the most part, the night in the Payne household had been the longest night ever for Liam...

He tossed and turned throughout the night; the worst case scenario invading his dreams every time he drifted off to sleep. He kept dreaming about being found guilty of crimes he didn't commit, of Cheryl crying as she felt as though she had failed him, of his parents and sister crying and of him having to spend the rest of his life behind bars while he heard Sophia laughing in the most sinister way. He would jump awake every hour throughout the night, to the point where when he jumped awake again at just after seven in the morning, he just decided to stay awake as there was no point in even sleeping again...

He got out of bed and pulled on a shirt and pajama bottoms as he'd only been sleeping in his boxers, before then making his way downstairs. His father was already in the kitchen, having some cereal and a cup of tea for breakfast whilst flicking through the morning paper.

"Morning, Dad." He greeted. Geoff looked up, smiling as he watched his son come into the kitchen.

"Morning, son; you alright?" he asked. Liam shrugged, making himself a cup of tea as well.

"Not great," he sat himself down at the table and ran his hand through his hair. "Hardly slept; I just want all this to workout good."

"And it will son, if you just believe it will; it'll be alright – and plus you've got one of the best lawyers fighting in your corner," Geoff remarked, "I've never seen someone so feisty."

"Trust me even I was getting a bit scared with her in the interrogation room," Liam chuckled slightly, "She actually told one of the officers to shut up and called him a twat. She must be damn scary though because when the officer came back with the bail amount, he mentioned that he told the judge that it was her and that it must have scared the judge into making a decision even though it was after business hours."

"I've heard she can be scary in court; she gets fired up and is really passionate about her job and wanting to help people." Geoff explained. Liam nodded before looking at his father, who was sipping his tea.

"Dad, if for some reason this is too big for her to handle and I get sent away, you'll all do everything you can to work with her and get me out right?" he timidly asked. Geoff looked over at his son with a raised eyebrow before placing a hand on his shoulder.

"You know I will go to the ends of the Earth to save you son, because I love you a lot," he told him sincerely before continuing, "But we aren't thinking like that because I know she'll be able to help you."

"I hope so." Liam sighed as he looked back down at his cup, his mind just racing with thoughts, making him feel like he was lost in a tunnel that was only getting deeper and darker...

The day seemed to pass like an eternity; Liam growing more and more nervous as the afternoon approached and the time creeped closer to his appointment with Cheryl. He kept things casually yet professional – a simple pair of black skinny jeans, a pair of shiny black shoes, and a pale blue t-shirt with his leather jacket over the top. He swept his hair back to look as nice as he could, before he then headed off into town. His mother had sweetly allowed her car as she hopped in the car with Nicola; something that Liam was grateful for as he didn't really want to have to catch a bus into the city as he knew it was bound to be busy.

Once Liam reached the office block where there were loads of important business buildings, he drove slowly before breathing out as he spotted the sign that said; Cole and Tweedy; Attorneys at Law. He drove into the parking lot and parked beside a familiar car; realizing that this was Cheryl's trendy Bentley as he remembered that she had a personalized license plate. Once he was parked, he took a deep breath before getting out, nervously making his way into the large three story building, praying with everything in him that she'd be able to help him.
