Chapter 18
Later...
Riker POV
So... Mr.S had decided that we'd be staying in a hotel tonight. He got 3 rooms. One for him and Mrs.S, one for Luke and Cody, and one for me and Dakota. I don't know if they know we're dating, but if they don't, it's probably a good thing...
I crawled into my bed. I closed my eyes, but then something came flying into my head.
"Oof!"
I pulled the pillow off me. I looked up in time to see Dakota jumping from her bed to mine. She landed on top of me.
"Ugh! Dakota!"
"Hi..."
I wrapped my arms around her, and pulled her down beside me. I pulled the covers over both of us, and held her tight in my arms.
"I'm sorry about your house," I said, quietly.
"It's ok... I mean... It's just good that we're ok."
There was a knock at the door, and Dakota literally jumped out of my arms. She opened the door. It was her dad.
"Hey, dad."
"Hey. We're going to sleep. Meet us for breakfast tomorrow. It's downstairs near the hotel lobby."
"Ok."
"Goodnight."
"Night, dad."
She closed and locked the door. She shut the lights off, and then crawled back into my bed. I wrapped my arms around her really tight, and cuddled into her. Being trapped, being scared, and crying for hours really wears you out...
Dakota gently pressed her lips to mine.
"Night, Riker."
"Night..."
I fell asleep cuddled up with Dakota.
The next day...
Riker POV
We were back at the farm now. There were insurance people here, looking at the damage to see how much money they could get from the tornado damage. Some of the barns were destroyed, but some were still standing. A bunch of the fields and plants were messed up. And there were a lot of missing animals...
Dakota and I were off, looking at the damage by ourselves.
We came up to a barn that was still standing, but it was damaged a little.
We went inside.
"Riker... I'm not sure we should be in here..."
"Why not? I want to look at the hay."
"Why?"
"Because I like it..."
"You're weird... Seriously, Riker. What if the barn collapses?"
"It's not going to... Hopefully..."
Dakota POV
Riker was climbing up on the hay bales near the side of the barn. There was a hole in the ceiling, and I was concerned...
The wind picked up a little. There weren't supposed to be any storms today. Just some wind.
I heard some creaking from the barn, and I really didn't like it.
"Riker, I think maybe we should go."
"But I'm not done yet."
"What are you even doing?"
