Chapter 17

Later...

Riker POV

I woke up, and sat straight up. I had a nightmare about getting trapped in the storm cellar.

Wait.

My hands were on cold concrete. I'm not in my bed!

My heart started to race. I can't see anything! I need to get out!

I jumped up, and started pounding on the doors. I started screaming for help.

"Riker! Calm down!"

I screamed.

"Riker-"

"I can't get out! I can't! The doors are stuck! Please help! Please!"

"Riker, stop! I can hear your fingernails on the doors! Calm down!"

Dakota wrapped her arms around me from behind, and made me sit down on the floor next to her again. I cried into my hands.

"Hey. We'll be ok. It hasn't even been that long, Riker."

"My throat hurts so bad!"

"Probably because you keep screaming. Here. I'll go find a water bottle."

"No! Don't leave me!"

"Riker, it's not like I'm going anywhere. I just have to feel around so I can get you a water."

I found her hand in the dark, and held onto it. We stood up, and I followed Dakota in the dark. She put a water bottle in my hands, and we sat down next to each other again.

I drank some of the water. It felt nice on my throat, which felt like it was burning.

"Do you know what time it is?" I whispered.

"No..."

"Is your phone dead yet?"

Dakota pulled out her phone, and the screen lit up. 4:34. So not exactly morning yet...

"When are your parents coming back?"

"I don't know. Maybe like noon?"

"Oh my gosh..."

"What?"

"That's forever!"

"Riker, just stay calm."

"I'm not even calm now!"

"Rik, it'll be fine. We'll get out. Just go back to sleep for a little bit, ok?"

"Ok..."

Later...

Dakota POV

Riker wouldn't stop complaining. He was cold, he was hungry, he wanted to leave... The list goes on...

"I'm thirsty."

"Riker... Drink the water I gave you."

"I did. There's no more."

"Ugh..."

I found him another water bottle. Yeah, I was annoyed about all this complaining, but at least he's not crying and screaming and going completely nuts!

"Dakota..."

"What, Riker?" I asked, annoyed.

"I want to leave," he said, dragging the words out.

"I know, Riker."

"I have to pee."

I sighed.
