Chapter 4
Later...
Riker POV
I stepped out of the shower, and quickly got dressed. I heard yelling, and I got really scared inside.
I slowly opened the bathroom door, and then sprinted to my bedroom. I climbed up into my loft, and dove under the covers. The yelling got louder.
"This isn't fair, mom! I did all my chores, and I even taught Riker how to do them too! And he's practically clueless!"
"Dakota, it's not my fault there's a tornado watch for tonight. I don't want you going out when the weather is going to be bad."
"Ugh!"
I heard a door slam, and I cringed. I heard it get opened again.
"Do not slam your door, Dakota. Why don't you go see if Riker wants to do something."
"No! Why would I want to hang out with him!?"
"Dakota, be nice."
"No! It's bad enough that you're making me teach him how to do everything! I don't want to have to spend extra time with him!"
"Fine... Dinner's in 30 minutes. Please get Riker for dinner."
"Whatever."
"Dakota."
"Ok, I will..."
It was silent after that. I just stayed curled up in my bed. I don't want to leave unless I get to go home. I don't like being alone, but it's better than getting yelled at, possibly by Dakota.
Later...
Dakota POV
The 30 minutes were up, and I knew it was time for dinner. I slid open the door in the loft, and crawled through to Riker's side. I saw a lump under the blankets. I grabbed the bottom of the blankets, and yanked them off quickly. Riker looked up at me, and he looked a little nervous.
"It's time for dinner," I said, crawling back to my own loft.
I slid the door shut, and then climbed down my ladder. I walked down the hall to the kitchen.
"We're eating outside," Cody told me.
"Ok..."
I grabbed a glass of water, and then went outside. Dad made hamburgers on the grill. I sat down at the table.
Riker came outside, looking really confused. He just sort of looked around, and then slowly walked over to me. He sat next to me, but he seemed unsure.
I watched him while we ate dinner. His hands looked like they were shaking, and I didn't know why. Like... Is he scared or something?
After dinner, I had to teach Riker how to do the dishes, and where to put them away.
I should be leaving for the movie right about now. But apparently I'm not allowed because there's a chance of bad weather. How stupid is that?
I decided I was going to go ride one of the horses. It helps me clear my head.
"Dakota!"
I sighed, and turned around to see mom.
"What?"
"Where are you going?"
"I'm not going to see the movie. Don't worry."
"Where are you going?"
