Author's Note: I decided to update another short chapter so you guys can get a feel of the story. School is over in about a week so I will have more time to write, but I probably won't regularly be updating this story until the end of December or early January.

But please vote and comment and let me know what you think of this story!

Chapter 1: Thought of You

Cause I'm in love with the thought of you
With the thought of you, with the thought of you
I'm in love with the thought of you
Not the things you do, but the thought of you.

I hummed quietly to the music while watching all the trees go by. I’m riding the bus and sitting in the very back where the upper schooled students are supposed to sit. I’m the only senior riding the bus because everyone else in my class either has a vehicle or has a friend who has a vehicle. My friends have vehicles, but they live on the other side of town and don’t want to drive out of their way to pick me up for school. It’s okay though because it gives me more time to listen to music before getting to school. I don’t have time to listen to music during school hours because the teachers don’t allow phones or music devices. The bus dropped off the elementary school kids then turned down the road to the high school. The elementary school and high school are a good mile away from each other. The bus pulled into the parking lot and let all of us out.

I walked into school and smiled at a few people in the hallway. My friends should already be in the cafeteria eating breakfast. I threw my bag in my locker and walked down the stairs to the cafeteria. My friends were at their usual table and saved a seat for me.

“Hi,” Caroline said as I sat down. “Breakfast?”

I shook my head, “My mom made breakfast before I left.”

“So what are you wearing to the dance?” Ben asked.

“I’m not going.”

“What?” Caroline asked. “Why?”

I shrugged, “I just don’t see the point. I’ve already been to the dance freshman year, sophomore year, and junior year. The only thing different will be the decorations.”

“That’s not true,” Ben said.

I look at him, “Seriously?”

“Okay,” he sighed, “It’s true.”

“I just don’t want to go.”

“What would change your mind?” Caroline asked.

“Nothing,” I told her, “But thank you.”

“Well I’m going,” she said, “And I really want to find a date.”

“Who do you want to go with?” I asked her.

“I don’t know yet.”

“I’ll help you.”

“But you’re not going,” she whined.

“I can still help you,” I laughed.

“And you’ll help me get the cutest date ever?”

I nodded, “Promise.”

“Good,” She laughed. “By the way, did you talk to your parents last night?”

I frowned, “Yup.”

“Still can’t afford it?” she asked.

I shook my head.

“Then I won’t go,” she said. “I’ll wait for you.”

“Don’t do that,” I told her. “You’re just as big of a belieber as I am, you should go. Take lots of pictures for me.”

“Really?”

I nodded, “Really. Take videos for me.”

She hugged me, “I will!”

“Don’t worry Melanie,” Ben said, “You can hang out with me that night.”

I smiled, “You’re the greatest Ben.”

“We’ll blast his music together; as long as it’s not one of his terrible slow songs.”

I rolled my eyes, “He doesn’t have any terrible songs.”

“He does too.”

“Does not,” Caroline interrupted.

“I never win this argument,” he said.

Caroline and I both shook our heads, “No you don’t.”

“Don’t get me wrong, he has some good songs, but what’s so great about him that always has you two drooling over him all the time?”

“He’s sweet,” Caroline said.

“And drop dead gorgeous,” I said.

“And his songs are so meaningful.”

“And his smile lights up the whole world.”

“And he’s so close to his family.”

“And he never gives up.”

“He’s not afraid to make mistakes.”

“He’s always nice.”

“Okay,” Ben stopped us. “Please don’t continue anymore or we’ll be late for our graduation in six months.”

Caroline and I both laughed.

“It’s true,” we agreed.

I smiled, “I just love the thought of him.”

“Me too,” Caroline smiled. “Perfect.”

I laughed, “Let’s get to class.”
