Chapter 17: Stuck in the Moment
Now you don't wanna let go,
And I don't wanna let you know
That there might be something real between us two, who knew?
Now we don't wanna fall but,
We're tripping in our hearts and,
It's reckless and clumsy,

“New York is amazing!” I laughed.
“This is where I want to be,” Ella said.
I nodded, “I love cities.”
“Me too,” she laughed.
Damien continued holding my hand as we all walked along the crowded sidewalks.
“It’s too crowded for me,” he said.
“Come on,” I smiled at him, “Isn’t it exciting though?”
He smiled, “Yeah I guess it is.”
“So enjoy it!” I told him, “Because this is my only free day here every other day we are here I am going to be competing.”
“I enjoy every moment with you Mel.”
I smiled, “Good.”
“Do you think we have a chance?” Ella asked.
“Definitely,” I replied, “Especially with that solo you’re going to do. Every school that rejected you will regret it as soon as soon as they hear that voice.”
“And your school of choice is going to realize why they gave you that scholarship.”
“I hope we run into each other years from now and we both end up as famous and successful singers. Maybe at our five year high school reunion; I’ll walk in and see you and we’ll sit down and talk for hours about how we saw each other on TV.”
She chuckled, “That would be incredible. I’ll bet you.”
“Bet me what?”
“That’ll we will both be singers five years from now.”
“How much?” I smiled.
“Twenty five.”
“Twenty five? When we’re famous we will have a lot more money than that.”
“Okay,” she laughed, “75.”
“Deal,” I shook her hand, “75 dollars says in five years we will both be successful singers.”
“Deal,” she agreed.
“You two are crazy,” Damien smiled at me.
“Why? Because we’re dreaming? What is your biggest wildest dream about your future?”
