            I thought seriously about Scooter’s request. I knew what he wanted to talk to me about all along, and I was right. I know I could have said yes a long time ago, but do I really want to give all this up so soon? I’m finally getting used to living in California, I’m getting an education, I’m making new friends, and I love going to college. Can I give all that up already? It’s a lot to think about. As much as I love music, this school is perfect.

            I told him I would think about it over Christmas break and get back to him. I flew home with Ella and Melody. Sadly, Justin had to stay because he’s getting prepared to go on tour and I understand. He promised to call often, text every day, and hopefully see me for Christmas. My parents were happy to see me home and Caroline was excited to hang out with her friends again. Two weeks into Christmas break, on Christmas, I realized what my answer to Scooter’s request was. I didn’t tell anybody, not yet. Scooter needs to be the first one to know. Or Justin.

“Tell me,” Caroline suddenly said as we ate our food in her dad’s restaurant.

“Tell you what?”

She looked at me like I was stupid, “Whatever it is you’ve been distracted by for weeks. Is it Justin?”

I shook my head, “Justin’s amazing.”

“Then what is it? Did you relapse?”

“No,” I shook my head, “It’s nothing like that either.”

“Then what is it?”

I sighed, “Scooter wants to sign me to his label?”

“Seriously?!”

“Quiet!” I hushed her.

“Wait, why is this bad?”

“It’s not bad,” I sighed.

“Then why are you upset?”

I shrugged.

“You don’t want to do it,” she realized.

I sighed again, “I should probably tell Justin or Scooter my decision first.”

“You’re not telling me, I’m guessing.”

“Yeah…”

“You went to college and you loved it. You loved every second of it I’m not stupid. I noticed that. When he asked to sign you it threw you off because you were having the time of your life at college. You finally went after your dreams of going to college and now you have two dreams to choose from. You don’t think you can have both.”
