Now let's go back 5000 years ago, to a place called Egypt. There was a young boy named Yugi who's family works under the royal palace but they do not receive any more care than the other servants on the outer walls. Yugi was a very kind child, ever since birth, which many people loved him for that.. Yugi who is 5 years of age, finally gets to have his dream come true, but then his life goes under, for where things vanish before his eyes...
................
Yugi who was with two other children were out and about kicking some rocks. As the young boy was roaming around to find a decent rock for the three to all kick, he stumbled upon the prince. Young Yugi always wondered what he looked like, but his expectations did not meet the eye.
"He looks like me" Yugi said with amazement.
An old man was walking besides him, explaining the prince stuff that Yugi's mind could not comprehend.
...................
"Hey mom! I saw the Prince today!" Yugi smiled as he ran to his mother who was at the sink washing the very little dishes they had.
"Oh you did? That's nice to hear"
"Yeah! He looks like me!" Yugi giggled as he spun around in a circle.
"At least your happy Yugi. Could you please grab the meat over there" she asked sternly.
Yugi nodded his head then grabbed the pound of meat from the cooler, placing it on the counter, he took a step outside...
"Hey Yugi! Wanna come and play with us, we found a new game to play!" One of his friends called out as her and her brother were waiting impatiently up on the sandy hill.
Yugi turned to his mother, asking for permission to go with his friends. Yugi's mother agreed, telling him to be back before dark. Yugi left his small home then ran to the hill.
"Look over there" the boy pointed.
Yugi looked over to see a man in a black robe and one of the royal guards standing in the plain desert. "What are they doing?" Yugi asked.
"I don't know but it's so cool!!!" the girl squealed.
The two men had said some sort of chant, then a block made out of stone appeared, rising from the sand. Young Yugi stared at them with amazement. "I wanna do that when I'm older!"
His friends nodded their heads with agreement. One of the royal guards noticed the kids, he moved his hand behind his back, signaling to leave, which they did.
"Aww... I wanted to see what they were doing!" the girl cried.
"Must be bad.. Very bad for him to push us away" the boy added.
Yugi sat there thinking.
"Hey Yugi, did you bring that paper with you?"
Yugi jumped. He pulled out the sheet of paper from his pants pocket, showing neat writing and hieroglyphics. "Yugi you are awesome! How is that possible for you to do that?" the boy grabbed the paper, scanning it thoroughly.
"I taught myself during my free time" Yugi mumbled.
"If the bad people catch you, you're done for!"
"I know Anzu.." Yugi sighed. Yugi grabbed the paper back from Honda then fold it back into his pocket.
"How about we play some ball?!" Honda suggested happily.
Yugi and Anzu nodded.
The three little kids ran down the hill but Yugi being clumsy, tripped over his foot, resulting to him rolling down the hill. Once he made it to the bottom, he shook his head then began to laugh.
"You okay?" Honda laughed.
"Y-yeah! Let's go play ball now!"
They all ran to Anzu and Honda's house. The young boy ran into his home, then came out with a red, shiny ball with black streaks all around it. The ball was originally their friend Jounouchi's but Honda took it.
The kids played near the palace. They had fun for awhile until something caught Yugi's eye. It was the prince and his friend Mana. They to, were playing near the castle. With Yugi not paying attention, he tripped on the ball, causing him to fall on his head.
With Yugi's loud cries, his friends did not know what to do until Mana and the prince came.
"Wowzers! This kid looks a lot like you!" Mana laughed.
The prince ignored what she had said then held out his hand, "Are you alright? Here take my hand"
Yugi who was teary eyed, hesitantly grabbed the young prince's hand. As the prince pulled Yugi up, Yugi had said thank you and sorry.
"Sorry for what? You got hurt so I helped you silly" the prince laughed.
"But a servant like me shouldn't receive kindness from people in your class.." Yugi said hesitantly. "M..M-My mom told me that it's bad.."
"Well i'm not like those old farts. At least I actually care for people" the prince sighed.
"Um.. I know this is very silly, but your highness, I never learned your name. My mother and father kept it hidden for a-a long time so.."
"Atem" he said flatly. "What about you? What is your name?"
"I-I- It's Yugi... Please to meet you!"
"It's a pleasure to meet you as well young one.. Well you should be around my age I suppose? How old are you?"
"Five.." Yugi said.
"I'm six and so is she"
Yugi gasped. "Ah.. It's getting late, I must return home, my father will be arriving shortly so.. Is it okay if we meet here tomorrow??"
The prince nodded. "What do you think Mana?" he asked the small, hyper girl.
"Sure! He's really nice!" she giggled.
Everyone waved their goodbyes as they returned home.
..............
When Yugi stepped inside, he did not get a warm welcome back..
