Chapter 2
Nate's Point of view
"So who's coming again," I ask my mother.
"The Smiths, the same people who come every year! Plus one."
"Who's the plus one?" I ask curiously.
"Jessica."
"Who's Jessica?"
"Their daughter."
I instantly get a flashback of a chubby, annoying girl with braces.
"Oh, her."
"Remember you boys promised to be nice to her this year. I don't want a repeat of what happened seven years ago. You got it?"
"Yes mom," we all reply in unison.
My mom leaves the room and I turn to my brothers.
"So Nate, what's the plan?" asks Kyle.
"Hmmm... we can loosen the screws on her bed so when she lays her fat ass in it, it will fall apart."
"Great idea!" yells Kyle.
Blake and Landon just roll their eyes.
"Alright, Landon, Kyle, and Blake go loosen the screws and I will distract mom."
"Yes sir!" Kyle jokes before running upstairs.
"Leave me out of this," says Landon before walking to the kitchen and grabbing a diet coke.
"Me too," replies Blake following Landon.
I roll my eyes and walk over to where my mom disappeared to. She was sitting outside staring at the waves crashing on the beach.
"Mom... are you okay?"
"Yes I'm fine. I'm just so excited to see Jessica after all of these years."
"Why?"
"Because I live in a house of all guys so Jessica is like the daughter I never had."
"Oh wow thanks mom."
"Don't get me wrong, I love you boys, but I need someone I can go shopping with," my mom sighs.
"Yeah have fun with that," I say before walking back into the house.
Landon and Blake are sitting at the kitchen counter sipping diet coke.
"So I take it Kyle's done?"
"Yep, he just ran down here a second ago, grabbed some chips, and ran into his room with a big smirk on his face."
"Good."
My mom can be excited about Jessica all she wants but I wasn't going to be happy until I make Jessica wish she never came to my house.
