[Chris and Khalil in multimedia]
Avery stared up at the ceiling of her apartment as Drake's 'U With Me?' played from the speakers that sat on the coffee table. Bored would be a understatement. Ever since the hit they had out in Louisiana, Isaiah didn't bother giving both Joey and Avery a new tasks. At the moment, they were on break or whatever for succeeding.
Her and Rio stayed in touch. She didn't have a reason why they wouldn't when she enjoyed the time she spent with him, and he also lives here in Austin. It would be hard for her to avoid him. Avery would've probably been hanging out with him right, but he was still in New Orleans doing god knows what. She didn't bother asking why he was out there in the first place because it wasn't any of her business.
"You tryna' fade this game with me tonight?" Joey asked, coming out from around the corner with a bag of chips in hand.
He walked over to the couch she was laying on and slapped my feet off. With a mug on full display, she glared at him through low eyes, but decided against sparking an argument with him and settled on setting her feet on his lap. Joey frowned and stopped munching on his snacks she looked from her to her feet. He examined them before returning to eating the chips.
"What game?"
"My little play cousin is starting in his first varsity basketball game tonight. You have to be there to support him."
"Yeah, I'm down." She agreed.
Avery didn't see why she wouldn't agree. It was either go to a basketball game or sit around and watch random shows on Netflix. Who would turn down the getting out the house when they have the chance to? The choice was easy.
Joey stared down at Avery for a brief moment. He then nodded his head with a small smile on his face. He pushed her feet off of him and before he could walk away from her, she kicked the back of his leg. Joey chuckled and rubbed the spot she kicked him before making his way for the door.
"Alright. I'll be back to pick you up later."
"Come early! I don't want to get there and the game is already over." She called out to him.
"Nigga, I'm the one driving you there so shut up and worry about something else." With that, Joey had walked out the apartment with the same bag of chips in hand.
Avery was going to call him back since that was the only bag she had, but decided against it. A sigh escaped her lips. Closing her eyes, her mind drifted off to Corahn. She could instantly feel her blood start to boil due to her growing angry over the thought of his death.
No doubt she wanted whoever killed him dead. Avery wanted to be the person to end his life. She made it her mission to kill them, but so far she hasn't come up with anything. Maybe she could find a few things from Rio but he was holding out on her and she could already tell he was stubborn and wouldn't tell her until he felt like it.
Avery was pulled out of her thoughts when her phone began to ring. Speaking of the devil. It was Rio trying to FaceTime her. She answered and sat the phone back down in her lap.
"When you answer a phone, you're supposed to say 'hello'." Rio stated after a few moments of silence.
"Be lucky I answered at all."
"You wouldn't ignore me baby." Avery chuckled at his heightened confidence.
"You wanna try me?"
"Nah. I know you 'bout that life, no need to prove it."
"Whatever. What you want Frankie?" She asked.
His face scrunched up in confusion.
"Where the hell did you get Frankie from?" Rio wondered.
