[Sadria in the multimedia]
Feeling someone shake her, her eyes fluttered open and she took a moment to observe her surroundings. Avery's eyes finally landed on Rio who was leaned back in his seat with his phone in hand, typing away with his hand still sitting on her thigh. A smile threatened to show, but she managed to hold it back and leaned her head back up off the window and rubbed the side of her face. Avery cleared her throat before speaking.
"You can move your hand now, Rio." She laughed, stretching out her arms and yawning in the process.
"I kinda like where it's at right now." He said with a smirk on his face.
Shaking her head, Avery didn't bother removing it and looked outside the window and instantly became confused. Within the eighteen years she's been living here, she's never seen this building. Her head turned towards Rio and he smiled down at his phone before unbuckling his seatbelt. Avery copied his actions and went to open the door.
"You open that door and I swear we fighting right here in this parking lot." Rio climbed out the car and hurriedly came to her side to open the door.
"I could've done that myself, but thanks for being a gentleman and doing that for me."
He walked up behind Avery and pulled her back a little then placed his hands over her eyes. The gesture caused her lips to form into a smile and she placed her hands over his. She was most definitely because any other day she would've been difficult, but then again it was her birthday.
"You don't have to worry about falling or anything because I got you, but I need for you to start walking forward." Rio whispered in her ear.
"I feel myself even close to falling square up because we'll be going at it out here. No joke." Avery threatened. "I don't want to do that so be careful and smart."
Hesitant but trusting him enough, she took one step forward and came to an abrupt halt and began to tap her feet around just to clarify that she was still on flat ground. Rio could've pulled a asshole move like she knew Joey would and gave her wrong directions in order for her to trip or something to entertain him. Avery shrugged her shoulders and began to walk regularly with his hands still over her eyes. The sound of the door opening was heard and then he removed his hands, revealing that they were in a pitch black room.
"Surprise!" Before she even had the chance to question why they were in a dark room, the lights turned on and people jumped out from everywhere. Avery peeped over Rio's shoulders, who she had hid behind of after initial surprise, and looked around the room.
"All this is for me?" She questioned in disbelief.
Yeah, you deserve it." Joey spoke. She turned in the direction his voice had came from. Avery moved from behind Rio and into Joey's outstretched arms.
"You're gonna make me cry. Thank you." Avery fanned her eyes in order to keep from messing up her make up she worked so hard on doing.
"Only the best for you, Aves." Joey kept his arm over her shoulders as he spoke.
"So I left you some messages earlier when I thought you were ignoring me....yeah you might wanna delete those. I didn't mean anything I said." She stated, earning a chuckle from the crowd.
"You good, just this one time."
After he said this, the DJ began playing music. People shifted their attention away from her and she began making her rounds to greet all the guests. Avery saw a lot of people she hadn't seen in a while. There were old classmates, people who lived in Elm Ridge with her, and many others who had been apart of her life in the past.
