[Sadria, Joey, Avery, and Rio in multimedia]
"You wanna tell me why'd you cheat?" She questioned, looking over at Rio with a stale look on her face.
"What you talking about?" Rio tried putting on the dumb act but was failing miserably because she saw past it.
"You cheated and got caught. How could you do that shit to me?" Avery clenched her jaw before unclenching and averting her attention from her lap back to him.
"You wildin' right now baby. What do you even consider cheating?" His laid back responses were causing her to get angrier with him the longer she stared at his face.
"Don't "baby" me. What you just did was considered cheating." She declared, crossing her arms in the process.
"Awe, I'm sorry Avery. I see what I got here in my hands is a sore loser." Rio teased with a smirk on full display which caused her to scoff.
"Nah, you gave me the bad controller on purpose and you had a created player on your team, so fuck you. This is why I don't like your ugly ass." As she spoke she scooted further away from him.
2K was is the one game that Avery was good at, and Rio only won because he didn't play fair. The main reason she got annoyed as much as she did was due to the fact that there was a bet on the game.
"A bets a bet." Rio stated with a smirk causing her to roll her eyes.
"Haven't you watched the fresh prince of bel air?" Avery tried to reason with him. "Hilary's boyfriend died while doing that when he tried to propose to her."
"Should've never suggested it. That's what you get for trying to use my fear of bungie jumping against me." He stood to his feet. "What you thought this was?"
"You're scheduling the appointment or I'm doing it?"
"I'm about to schedule it now."
"I die while doing it and I'm gonna haunt your ass." Avery mumbled. "Better hope that the lord is with me at the time." Rio was laughing but she was completely serious.
"I'm getting ready to head back home." Rio spoke after a few moments. Normally she would try to convince him to stay awhile longer and it wasn't hard to do so, but she simply ignored him.
"You can't possibly be that mad about losing a bet." He stared at her clearly confused at her behavior.
"I'm not."
"Then what did I do wrong?"
"Well, besides the fact that you want me to jump off a bridge with nothing but a rubber band attached to my waist, you seem to be forgetting why I approached you in the first place. We've been talking for like a month now, and you still haven't told me anything about the men who killed my brother." Avery pointed out. He let out a sigh and ran a hand down his face.
"I'm just gonna keep it one hundred with. There was some fucked up shit that went on regarding that night, and some things are better left unknown. I honestly never had any intention of explaining the situation to you. I don't want to be the one to cause you more pain than you're already feeling." Rio explained. Avery stood up and walked in front of him to look him in the eyes.
"There's nothing worse for me than having absolutely no idea why somebody decided to take my brother's life. I blame myself, because if I wouldn't have wanted to go to the park that day, maybe we wouldn't have ended up in that alley in the first place." Avery began, her voice laced with a mixture of anger and sadness.
"You can't blame yourself. You had nothing to do with this. Park or no park, they were going to kill your brother eventually. I'm only keeping this from you to protect you." He tried to move closer to her, but she pushed him away.
