Chapter Fourteen

"Get the fuck up, Diana," Nadia's voice shouted in the bedroom as she parted the curtains and Diana groaned when light streamed right in her face, "Get up and act your damn age." Nadia was now standing beside the bed glaring at her.

"Why are you here, Nad?" Diana groaned again.

"To revive you, cuz it looks like you are dead." Nadia sighed and sat down on the bed, "What happened, Di? Just last week you were all happy going to wherever it was with Neil only to return and not tell a single person, you switch off your phone and don't bother to tell anyone what happened."
"Oh wouldn't you like to know?" Diana said sarcastically and Nadia rolled her eyes.

"C'mon Di, you know Seth called me from Canada and had told me to decorate a congratulations banner and put it at Neil's house, cuz he said that's where you two will be, are you pregnant Di?"

"Wish I was, maybe he wouldn't have left me," Diana said almost to herself, She didn't want even Nadia to hate her, one person at a time was enough, right?

"Please tell me, Di, I am your friend." Nadia pleaded.

"No, Nadia, Neil left me because of that and now what makes me think you will not leave me as well,"

"What are you talking about?"

"It's about Phe," Diana said, oh fuck it, she was going to tell the whole world then, "Pheobe is my daughter,"

"Ofcoarse she is, you mean Neil doesn't want you because of Phe? That jerk is..."

"No Nadia, I gave birth to her, I lied to everyone, Nad, I told them Phe wasn't mine I had just adopted her," Diana waited for the rebukes but nothing happened, there was silence then,

"Oh Di, and what would make you think that I'll abandon you? We are friends, remember?" Di was suddenly overwhelmed, she fell in her friend's waiting arms.

"Thank you, Nadia." she sobbed

"What are friends for, and who am I to judge you, we are all humans, we all make mistakes,"
"Neil left because I had a lot of chances to tell him but couldn't,"

"Everything will be fine, honey, Neil will come to his senses." Nadia assured her, "Now please stop feeling sorry for yourself, you have more people to face you know, your family and your daughter," Di nodded and cleaned her face.

"I'll take a shower," she murmured and headed towards the bathroom.

"Wish me luck, Nadia," Di sat with Nadia in her car outside her home, it was a Saturday and everyone was home.

"You'll be okay, hun, " Nad squeezed her hand, "I'm coming with you,remember?" Diana's nodded and the two women walked towards the big house.

"Mummy," Phe came running out into Diana's hands, "What too you so long, I missed you," She burried her head in her neck.

"Missed you too hun, have you been behaving?"

"You know I'm a good girl," Phe batted her eyelashes at Diana making the too ladies laugh, "Hi aunt Nadia?"

"Hi baby, how you doing?" Nadia ruffled her hair.

"I'm good, let's go inside. everyone's there," The two women exchanged a look and dragged their feet towards the house.

"What?" That was the response of most of the people, Diana looked around and held her breath.

"Does that mean I get to call you mummy for real?" Phe.asked and when Diana nodded, she ran to her and hugged her tightly, "I love you, mom," Diana burst into tears, right now She didn't care what anyone thought, her daughter had accepted her and loved her still.

"C'mon guys, stop pretending, we all knew the truth," Diana's mum said making everyone laugh.

"We are just surprised she finally came out with the truth," Her brother Bob said.

"You mean you guys knew all along?" Diana asked shocked, when they all nodded she sniffed and said, "Oh I've been so stupid,"

"No, honey, you good," her sister assured her and everyone went on to mind their own business.

"So hey, what's with that friend of yours?" Bob asked her pointing at Nadia.

"Hell no, she's already taken," Diana didn't want to be on Seth's bad side, that she knew for sure.

"Aww, c'mon," her brother whined but she shook her head and turned to her daughter. Her daughter, finally She could say it loud, but it had cost her.

"Honey, are your clothes packed? we are going home,"

"Yay, I'll go pack the remaining clothes," she said and ran to her room.

"So, how do you feel?" Nadia asked bumping her shoulder on her friend's.

"Well, I feel very light right now, thank you, Nadia for standing by me, I can't believe all along these people knew."

"Hun, family knows best,"

"I guess so."

Phe ran towards the house after Diana had parked the car in the driveway. "Home Sweet Home, I missed you," Phe shouted making Diana laugh.

"Honey, you've been away just one week,"

"I know, mom, how about Uncle Neil, where's he?"
