Worlds Apart

Chapter Four

Diana lay down on her bed and looked through the window at the dark sky. It was so cold but she never liked locking her bedroom windows some nights.  She felt so good when she woke up to look out without getting out of bed. There were no stars tonight. She lived in a two bedroomed apartment she had bought four months ago. He dream of becoming a real estate and investor was amost about to be fulfilled. It had not.been easy, God knew.

The rejections, the sleepless nights, but thanks to her parents who had loaned her money to start up. Buying one house had led to buying another and another until she had settled. She continued to stare out as she let her mind drift to six years ago...

Flashback

Diana ran to the taxi park, took a taxi upto Fortportal. She had a cousin brother called Abel who lived there and she knew he was trustable and would keep her secret. Abe being a quiet guy had let Diana stay and he never complained for the next six months. Even after she had given birth to her baby, he was always there by her side. In her late months of pregnancy, Abe had given her everything she wanted and even talked her into calling Arthur, the man who was responsible. Abe had stood by her still when Arthur screamed at her and denied reaponsibility. She had wanted to give Arthur a chance to know his baby but he had thrown that away like a dirty rug. Diana remembered all the things and cried at the dirty names Arthur had called her. Abe then had told her to let him go because he wasnt worth a tear.

During her stay at Abe's, he had taken it upon himself to call her parents and tell them that Diana was fine and that she had just gone for a visit. He couldnt tell them about the baby cause she had forbade him to.

Two years later

"I cant believe your leaving and taking my little niece with you."Abel said to Diana as he put their suitcases in his car boot.

"I dont want to go Abel, but i cant postpone going home any longer." She replied sadly. "Its been more than two years since i saw my parents"

"I know cuz, just send my love to them." He turned to the little girl clutching on his pants leg, "And you little princess, I'm gonna miss you. Give Uncle a biig hug." He lifted her in his arms hugging her to him.

"Uncle Abe, will come see me and my mommy?"She asked and he nodded, "And will i fowever be your pwincess?" she asked again her hands on his cheeks.

"Yes princess, the one and only forever." He assured her with a kiss on her cheek then put her inside the car. "Diana, i want you to know that you deserve all the happiness in this world. Dont fall for any man who wont make you happy, okay." He looked her in the eyes and she nodded.

"Thank you so much Abe." She hugged him and went to enter the car. He stood there and waved to them as the car dissappeared in the distance. He had given her one of his cars and he wished she came out successful in whatever she did. Abe turned and went inside his house.

Diana drove towards home, it was going to be a long journey for them, a whole day to.be precise. She would stop at a motel to rest then continue.

"Mommy where are going?" her daughter asked and she smiled. Her miracle.

"Home princess, we are going home." She was afraid of what she was going to find there. How would she explain that she was pregnant when she left home? How will her family look at her? She had to think of something but no plan came to mind. She shrugged and concluded that will cross the bridge when comes to it.

She just listened to the chatter of her two year old girl, an adorable and beautiful girl at that.

Diana was welcomed back home with joy and happiness, everyone gathered to greet her with smiles, that is until they saw her daughter. The atmosphere became tense immediately as all eyes turned to look at the scared girl who held onto her mum's leg like her life depended on it. She had never seen too many people in all her very short life.
