The day felt the same for Diana. She knew there was no work, it being a Saturday but still she felt a whole load of weight on her shoulders. She got out of bed and stared in space for hours, you know that moment when you are fully awake in the morning and you just sit on your bed with that blank look? Yeah, that one. Diana later heaved a sigh and then frowned, the house seemed so unusually quiet. She got up, ignoring the protest in her body and trudged her feet towards Phoebe's room. Her daughter was an early riser, "Phe, are you there?" She knocked twice on her bedroom door, when she heard no answer she turned the lock and the door easily opened. The bed was neatly done and everything was in place except for a pink paper slip that lay on the bed.
Morning Mum. I've gone out with uncle Neil, it being a weekend
He said we should let you sleep off Friday's workload
Whatever that means. See you later💜💕. Love you.Diana sighed and flopped on Phoebe's bed, on one hand she felt sad that they hadn't woken her up but on the other hand she was glad that she had a few hours to herself. She trudged her feet to the kitchen and made some pancakes and coffee then she went to sit in her chair by the window. She hadn't bothered to look at the time, and she didn't want to, but judging from the position of the sun, it was just three hours to midday. She sighed and leaned back, closing her eyes and smiled. God had been so good to her. There are times she felt worthless, but that fear had been taken away. There are times she felt like giving up was the better option, but she had never wanted to settle for the better, she wanted the best of everything.
Today was her birthday, she felt grateful for life and health and family and friends. Without those, she would never have made it thus far. Her daughter hadn't wished her a happy birthday, neither had Neil or any of her family and friends. But Di didn't mind, she had learnt to look at the good side of life. She was going to organise her own party and invite them over to celebrate with her. She finished up with her coffee and went back to her room, took a shower and dressed up. She called Neil and he picked on the third ring. "Baby, I'm kinda busy right now, is there a problem?" His voice made her smile. She felt like she missed him already.
"Umm, nope, can you stay with Phe today until evening?" She asked
"Sure, it will be a pleasure." He replied, did she sense relief?
"Okay then have fun, bye."
"Wait," he said suddenly and then paused, Diana waited with a frown and then, "I love you," he whispered. Diana's face lit up and happiness, "I love you too." She said and hang up.
She was so going to enjoy her day. After her shower, she called Rania Events Co. She directly called Rania because the woman was their friend, by their, she means her and Neil.
"Hey sweetheart," her Spanish accent slipped through, you see, Uganda is a diverse country. All nationalities in the whole wide world have a representative, and no, I'm not talking of ambassadors."Hi,Rania, you busy?" She asked as she heard noise in the background.
"For you? Never my dear, did you want...Hey you, you mess up that design you got to deal with me."
"Uh, I can call back later," Di said.
"What, of coarse not, what is it honey, tell me."
"Okay, I want to organise my birthday party at my house, do you think you can do it for me today?"
