Chapter 17

Chloe and Lila were catching up in a nearby cafe close to the bakery. They became friends over the years. Chloe with her pettiness and Lila with her lies, they were unstoppable. Sabrina was just the glue that held them together perfectly since she was the innocents and voice of opinion that no one suspected but sadly, she wasn't there today.

"So where is Sabrina?" Lila asked as she grabbed her coffee from the clerk.

"She's in Africa or something studying nasty little bugs." Chloe answered even though she was wrong. Sabrina was in England at a book convention Chloe was suppose to go with her too. They walked out of the cafe with their coffee when they noticed Marinette talking to someone, someone Lila pretended to know. They both scoffed at the sigh as Marinette waved goodbye to Riley who turned onto her skateboard and rode off.

"That's Riley Harts. Adriens girlfriend. Why is she talking to such trash!" Lila scoffed as Marinette smiled and walked down the street.

"We can take care of this." Chloe flicked her ponytail. "Just follow my lead." Marinette was walking a little slower thanks to the ChatBug she liked to call, inside her. Lila and Chloe crossed the street and stood in front of where Marinette needed to turn to get back to the bakery.

Marinette bumped into them and smiled a little even though inside she was screaming for Adriens help. "Hi Chloe, Lila!" Marinette hissed at the end of her sentence because Chloe dumped her scorching hot coffee on Marinettes head. Lila handed Chloe her coffee and threw it at her stomach but Lila got an idea and stopped her.

"Wait!" Lila called out and Chloe stopped before she threw it. Marinete calmed her nerves. "I wanna do it." She began to panic again.

"Throw it at the stomach." Chloe gave her her coffee back and Lila took a swig before blowing it in Marinettes face and then opened the cap and started to throw it at her stomach. She threw it and the coffee poured out in a steaming stream but someone jumped in front of her.

"Y-y-y-y-you okay Mari?" Ryan winced at the second degree burn now laying across his stomach. Marinette nodded as tears streamed down her face. "L-let me take you home." She nodded again and Ryan glared at the two. "You both should be arrested." He growled as he gently put his hand on her shoulder that was covered in coffee and most likely had a second degree burn.

"As if." Chloe scoffed and put her hands on her hips. "What's such a cute boy doing with trash like her? You should hang out with us!" Lila pushed Marinette out of the way and into the street and latched one arm to Ryan while Chloe latched onto his other one. "Trust me! We're way better company!" Ryan struggled to get out of their death grip.

Marinette groaned but caught herself before her stomach could hit the ground. There was a snap in her wrist and she winced at the shooting pain. "Oh my god Marinette!" Riley came running up to her and helped her up. "Who did this to you!"

"I-it doesn't matter." Marinette whispered while Ryan was trying to get out of Chloe and Lila's grip.

"Yes it does!" Riley helped Marinette up to her feet. "Now tell me who did this." Marinette winced again at the pain in her wrist.

"It doesn't matter. I should get home." Marinette whispered.

"I'll walk you." Riley smiled and gently grabbed her forearm and started walking them to the bakery.

"What about your call to set?"

"It was a false alarm." Riley smiled at her. "Let me get you home."

"Riley~" Chloe sang. Her and Lila pulled Ryan with them, making his burn worse and making him wince again. "Hang out with us! We're better then this loser!" Chloe pushed Marinette forward and linked arms with Riley. Ryan and Riley watched as Marinette fell forward in horror but was to slow to catch herself.

"Marinette!" They called out as her body collided with the ground and everything went black for her.
