"No, absolutely not."
"Stevie just listen."
"Karen no!"
"Baby just hear us out." Don took her hand, she looked over at Karen who sat across from her in the love seat.
Stevie sighed frustrated. "I don't want some stranger following me around all the time!"
"Stevie-"
"No." she turned to Don who sat next to her on the couch. "You told me everything was fine. They arrested him."
"They have the man in custody," Karen intervened. "But they haven't incarcerated him yet. We don't know anything about him, we don't know what his reasons were, and we won't until after the trial."
Stevie yanked her hand from Don's, crossing her arms as she pouted. "He's in jail, isn't that enough?"
"We don't know what his intentions were, and we don't know if he has others that worked him. This is in the best interest for you." Karen tried to reason with her.
"You can stay with me." She turned to Don, pleading with her eyes.
"Baby if I could I would. I only have one week off before I have to go back on the road, you know how it is."
Tears welled up in her eyes, letting her head fall back against the cushions. "I don't want this."
"Stevie, baby look at me. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, forcing her to bring her head back up as he cupped her cheek. "Tell me you honestly feel safe right now?" He looked in her eyes, searching for any objection. "This is only to protect you, we wouldn't do this if we didn't think it was absolutely necessary."
Stevie glanced over at Karen, who nodded in agreement. "I don't like this."
Don smiled, knowing despite her comment she was on board. "That's my girl." He kissed her on the forehead.
"We'll get you the best body guard there is."
"I want to interview them first."
"Stevie, that's not necessary."
"Karen if I'm going to be followed around by some random stranger I want to at least be able to pick which one."
Don and Karen both sighed, giving each other a look. "Fine. I'll call around right now and I'll gather a group of the best." Stevie nodded in affirmation.
"This is only what's best for you baby." Don leaned in to kiss her, her hand covering his face before he could reach her lips, pushing her away.
"I'm not happy with you." She unwrapped his arm from around her shoulders, pushing herself off the couch as she huffed her way out of the room. Don sighed, falling back into the couch defeated.
......
"Not going to happen."
"Lindsey, hear me out." He followed his friend through his living room, sighing as he flopped down on the couch, flipping on the tv.
"Not a chance Michael, I do events, not all around care for some spoiled star who thinks they're the world."
"It's for Stevie Nicks." Lindsey raised an eyebrow, wracking his brain. "Seriously man? Huge rockstar, you stopped that man from shooting her yesterday."
"Oh."
"Jesus." Micheal shook his head, looking at his partner in disapproval. "Her assistant called and personally asked for you.""There's plenty of other guards out there, give her a number."
"Maybe you'll change your mind when you'll see the pay they're offering."
"Forget it, I told you before, I don't want to..." Lindsey trailed off as his friend placed his laptop in front of him, showing him the email he'd received. "Holy shit."
"Yeah, holy shit." His friend laughed. "So you'll do it?"
Lindsey shrugged. "Couldn't hurt to try it out, worse comes to worse I quit."
"She wants to interview you before hiring."
"I saved her life, isn't that enough?"
Michael sighed. "Look, even if she turns out to be the biggest bitch ever the money's worth it."
Lindsey sighed, cracking open a beer. "We'll see."
