"It was dad. He said he had a surprise for me when he gets here." The girl announced to her troubled parent.

"I'm sure he does."

During the final night at her house, the girl barely slept. The cute clock on her bedside read 2:59.

"Having trouble sleeping?" A voice asked from the corner of the room, by the doorway. The voice was familiar to her, yet she never physically heard it, only in her head.

"Yes." She poked out from the covers.

"Come over here, to your old pal. Gorse. Hehehe."

"Okay." Doing as told, the child hopped up and situated herself on the empty rocking chair. Gorse was standing on his own two feet and had the book in his hands again.

"I think it's time for a good bedtime story. Those always help." He nudged the book into the girl's hands.

"But won't mommy be mad?"

"No way! She told me to let you read the book. But juuuust oooone."

"Well, alright."
