Chapter Six - Fresh Air Turns Out Bad

It's too dark. I don't know where I'm going? How'd I end up here? I don't feel right. Am I dreaming? It feels too real to be a dream, but it also feels to fake to be real.

I heard yelling and a little further up was light.

'Send her away.' I heard someone yell.

'Turn her into a human and never be seen again.' Another said.

'We don't care if she is your daughter. Rules are rules and she broke it.'

Everyone started arguing. I got up to the end of the tunnel and looked over the corner making sure no one sees me. They weren't people, they were . . . wolves. All kinds of wolves. Some were big, small, some had brown fur others had black but most had white fur.

'Please settle down.' One big white wolf said up front.

The crowd of wolves went silent.

'The rules say if you fail the task you must be turned into a human. Nothing else . . .'

A big black wolf interrupted him. 'This is a bigger problem. She has told a human about us and now they're coming to get us as we speak.'

'I know but she's just . . .'

Another wolf cut him off. 'There is no excuse for this. Send Talikai away. Just because she is your daughter doesn't mean she gets off the hook.'

The white wolf sighed. 'Talikai!' He yelled out.

Something told me to walk out to him but my fear stopped me from moving.

'Talikai!' He yelled again.

Something growled behind me. I turned around. Three wolves were standing there with the darkest red eyes you could picture.

'Go before we hurt you.' One wolf threatened.

I couldn't move. I was frozen with fear. I can't wake up from this dream.

The wolf attacked me.

I woke up in sweat. It felt so real but it can't be. Why am I having dreams of wolves? I mean I know they're my favorite animal but they can get scary. I looked at the clock it was seven. Ray and Sarah have probably left for work. Sarah doesn't have to work till ten this time so both Ray and Sarah will be back at seven tonight.

I can't go back to bed, maybe if I get some fresh air I can. Ashley won't wake till ten so she won't know I'm gone. It's a good thing I took a shower last night. I got up and put a long sleeved black shirt on and a pair of jeans. I looked around for my winter coat and remembered it's at Jamie's. That means I have to wear his sweatshirt again.

I put on his fluffy sweatshirt; got my wallet, cell phone, and car keys. I went downstairs as quiet as I could be. Ashley was sound asleep in her fluffy cotton blankets. She'll probably want to go hang out with Camren and Casie today.

I went outside. It was cold out like all the other days and it was very windy out but no snow was falling. I ran to my car and started to blare the heat. I sat in my car thinking where to drive. Well I have some money I can go buy something at the store. Like a Mountain Dew. I haven't had that in a long time.

While I was driving down the street I could hardly see anything because the wind was carrying the snow across the road. It's a good thing it's just down the street. I can't stop thinking about that dream. It's been twice in a row I've been having dreams about wolves.

I pulled into the store parking lot. There were two cars. I wasn't shocked since it was in the morning. I hurried up inside escaping from the wind. It was dead silent, except for the music, in the store. Which the music is always on.
