Chapter Fourteen - Feeling Death
I was dreaming I was standing in front of a door. The light was peeking under it. The hall was pitch black other than the little light behind the door.
'Open it.' Said a voice.
I looked to my left and Jamie stood next to me.
'Don't be afraid. Open it.' He said.
'I don't think I should. There's something telling me to leave.' I told him.
'Come on. Don't you trust me?' He said smiling at me.
I nodded and looked at the door. I reached for the door knob and turned it slightly. I was pushed in quickly and fell on the ground.
'What are you doing?' I asked while looking at Jamie.
I heard the door slam. I looked around. It was only a room with a white ceiling, walls, and floor. In a blink of an eye Jamie was on top of me with a knife held to my neck.
'Did you think you can trust me?' He said.
I couldn't move. I was pinned to the ground.
'Foolish child.'
He dug the knife into my neck. The pain felt real even though I'm in a dream. The blood slid down my neck on to the white floor.
'It's a shame I'll have to kill you. A boyfriend killing his own girlfriend.'
I have to wake up. This isn't real. None of this is real. Someone wake me up!
He took the knife off my neck. The blood dripped off the knife on to my cheek and slowly he licked the blood off from the knife.
I woke up about to scream bloody murder but I covered my mouth. I started to cry. I moved in the corner against the wall trying to hold it back. The pain is getting to be too much. The image of Jamie licking my blood off the knife was stuck in my head. That wasn't Jamie. That was just a dream from Riley, but it felt so real.
I squeezed my eyes shut.
Somebody help me!
I heard a click and my eyes flew open. Jamie stood in the doorway. He ended up in front of me with a hand on my cheek.
"Come here." He said and picked me up.
He took me in his room and set me on the bed. Jamie closed the door and locked it. My heart skipped a beat when I saw him lock the door.
"Nothing's going to happen." He said then walked up to me. "What's wrong?" He asked while bending down.
I shook my head.
"What did you have a dream about?" He asked.
I didn't answer.
He stood up and sat on the bed toward the pillows. "Come here." He said.
I backed up and lay down next to him.
"That scary, huh?" He said. "Well, you're safe now, okay?"
He laid down next to me and held his head up with his arm and put his other arm on my stomach. He stared at me as I stared at the ceiling.
"This is what we get when we're Ziuq's." He said.
I looked at him with a confused expression.
"Oh, that's right you don't know about the titles for different animals. Ziuq is another word for wolf. Its quiz spelt backwards. We're tested when we're wolves to see if we're worthy enough, that's why we're called Ziuq's. Other animals don't have words spelt backwards for their titles. For example a tiger's title is Vagu. It doesn't spell anything backwards."
