Chapter Thirteen - Covering up The Pain
When I woke up the next morning Seth was on the bed. It was very lonely in the room because it was basically half empty. Sophia told me this place was their old cottage.
I sat up and Seth woke up.
"Are you that mad at Jamie?" Seth asked me.
"No, if you were me you'd understand."
"Apparently I'm not you so I don't understand." He put his head back down.
We ended the conversation from there.
I didn't change last night into comfortable clothes. I just went to bed with what I had on yesterday. I opened the door. My room was the first door to the right when you go upstairs. I went downstairs and Sophia was in the kitchen cooking. Blake and Jamie were at the table.
"Morning Emily!" Sophia said.
I sat at the counter on the stool without saying anything to her.
"Did you sleep in those?" She asked.
"Yeah, I don't have anything else."
"That won't do. We'll go shopping later."
Oh great, I know how Sophia is with shopping. She goes overboard.
"Don't forget to get all black." Blake said.
"That's right. I forgot." Sophia said.
"Why all black?" I asked.
"This place we're at, only animals can find this place. To stay here you have to wear all black for the mayor of this city." Blake explained.
"Wait, so this place isn't in California?"
"Nope. It's the out skirts of it, but it's invisible to those who are human."
I didn't ask anything back.
Sophia put a plate in front of me.
"I'm not hungry." I told her.
"You have to eat something Emily."
I shook my head.
"Alright . . . But you better eat later." She said. "Why don't you take a shower and then we'll leave. Jamie can you let her borrow some of your clothes. I was in a rush to get here; I didn't really get any of my clothes."
"Uh, yeah sure." He stood up and walked upstairs. I followed behind him.
He went in his drawer and got out a black Nike shirt, a black hoodie and a pair of jeans.
"You might need this." He said while getting a belt and putting it on the pile.
"Guy clothes . . ." I said.
"Well you're not a girly girl so it fits you." He handed me the pile.
"Thanks."
He nodded and left the room.
I sat on the couch downstairs waiting for Sophia after I was ready. I put on a pair of black sneakers that were Jamie's and were a couple of sizes bigger. I don't understand why I can't wear my sneakers from yesterday. He said I'll be tracked by my scent if I did.
Jamie came up to me. "Stand up and turn around." He said.
"What?" I said confused.
"Just do it."
I stood up and turned around. He started doing something with my hair then put a hat on me. He spun me around and put the hood up on top of the hat.
