Chapter Seventeen - Last Words, Last Goodbyes, Last Love
As I woke up I stared at the ceiling. I didn't bother to look over since Jamie is always up before me. Today is Thanksgiving and the day to be put back in the past. Should I be happy the pain will go away and won't meet Riley again or sad that I won't see Jamie and the others again? It's not like me thinking about this is going to help. Either way I am forced to do it.
Someone came in. I sat up and saw Jamie.
"I thought you'd be up. Alex and Sophia are going shopping and they need you to come along." He said while standing next to the bed.
"Shopping? Again?" I asked.
"Yeah, that guy we're going to meet is at a mansion. They're having a Thanksgiving party. That means you three have to get dresses.
I hate dresses. Just give me a pair of pants.
"What about you three guys?" I asked.
"Don't worry about us. Get ready, they're waiting."
He left the room.
I was forced to get up and get ready. This will be the last shopping spree I go with them.
"No." I said.
We were at the mall and Sophia was arguing with me to get a dress for me.
"Why not? This is a great dress." She said.
"It cost two thousand dollars! Put it back." I told her.
"It's not that much."
"Yes it is, put it back Sophia."
"Emily . . ." Alex said.
I looked over at her.
"You do know everything we bought you, will be gone and we'll get our money back, right?"
That's right; if I never met them then none of the stuff they gave me will be there.
I twirled the little crystal wolf. "Fine, get it." I said to Sophia.
"Thank you." She said and skipped off.
"Sorry you have to go through this." Alex said.
"It's fine, it's the last day. Let her spend what she wishes."
We all got our dresses and headed back to the house. Alex was driving the hummer. Sophia was in the front and I sat in the back.
"When do we have to go to this mansion?" I asked.
"Six o'clock." Sophia said.
I have four and a half hours left. That's all I have.
When we got to the house everyone kind of kept to themselves. I could hear people laugh in the kitchen or hear someone talk upstairs. I sat on the couch watching whatever Blake left the channel on. I saw Jamie in the corner of my eye and looked over.
"Aw, you look lonely in here." He said and sat on the couch next to me.
"I'm not." I said and looked away.
"Don't lie to me."
"I'm not lying."
He didn't say anything back.
"We have a couple of hours left." Jamie said.
"I know . . ."
"Have the marks been hurting at all?" He asked changing the subject.
"No, actually I've been fine these past days."
He didn't say anything back.
"Is that bad?" I asked.
