"Damn Potter, how is he not in trouble?" Draco hisses when Harry and Ron walk into the Great Hall the next morning. Vanessa just drinks her pumpkin juice. She figured Harry was going to slip away once he knew it was a trick. They have always been good at getting out if trouble.

About a week later, at breakfast, Vanessa is sitting there listening to Victoria and Edward tell a story of one of their past Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers. These two had been very helpful to Vanessa, giving her tips and tricks to get trough each class. They are fourth years, so they've been around for a little while.

"So she raised her wand, right, then out of no where the -- woah look at that!" Edward points up toward where all the owls are flying in. Six owls are working together to carry a long, thin, parcel.

"What do you think it is?" Victoria asks aloud. To Vanessa's shock, it is dropped down in front of Harry. Then a letter is dropped on top.

"Who is that even from, Potty doesn't have anyone to send him gifts." Draco snarls, glaring over at Harry.

Harry opens the letter then exchanges some words with Ron. They stand and leave the Great Hall.

"Come on, let's go find out what he's got." Draco stands.

"I would love to hear the rest of the story later." Vanessa says politely to Edward before following Draco.

They go straight to the stairs where Harry and Ron are headed. They stop in their tracks at the sight of the four Slytherins before them.

Draco snatches the package from Harry's hands.

"That's a broomstick," he says, tossing it back at Harry. He has jealousy and spite clear on his face. "You'll be in for it this time, first years aren't allowed them."

"Yeah, Harry, it clearly stated on our letters, no broomsticks." Vanessa frowns at her brother.

"It's not any old broomstick," Ron says. "It's a Nimbus Two Thousand. What did you say you've got at home, Malfoy, a Comet Two Sixty?" Ron grins at Harry. "Comets look flashy, but they're not in the same league as the Nimbus."

"What would you know about it, Weasley, you couldn't afford half the handle," Draco sneers. "I suppose you and your brothers have to save up twig by twig." Before Ron can even open his mouth, Professor Flitwick appears.

"Not arguing, I hope?" He squeaks.

"Potter's been sent a broomstick, Professor," Draco says quickly, hoping to get Harry in trouble.

"Yes, yes, that's right," Professor Flitwick beams at Harry. "Professor McGonagall told me all about the special circumstances, Potter. And what model is it?" Draco looks at Harry in horror and rage.

"A Nimbus Two Thousand, sir," Harry is fighting laughter. "And it's really thanks to Malfoy here that I've got it," he adds. They turn and rush up the stairs, Draco, fuming, turns and goes the opposite way.

"That damn Potter. What make him so damned special." He stops suddenly. "He made the Quidditch team." He looks more angry than before. "I'd bet my wand on it. Stupid Potter. I could out fly him any day. Wait till my father hears about this." He stomps down the stairs toward the common room. Vanessa giggles at his fit of rage.

"You think this is funny don't you?" He whirls on her. They have stopped right outside the common room entrance. She hardly flinches now that he's turned his anger on her.

"Actually, yes, I find it very humorous." She says, breaking out into a grin.

"Care to explain, because at the moment I don't see the humor at all." He glares at her.
