The night before the last day of finals, Vanessa is in the common studying with Draco. She's mostly studying while he watches her, she doesn't realize it though. She looks up to catch him doodling on his parchment and not taking notes.

"You are trying to pass aren't you?" She asks sarcastically. She knows his grades are good, up there with hers.

"Course I am,"  he pulls the parchment closer towards himself, as if to hide it from view.

"What are you drawing?" Vanessa inquires, leaning over to try and look.

"Nothing," Draco says casually, but he pulls it closer to himself.

"Yeah right," Vanessa snatches the parchment from beneath his arms. "Is that supposed to be me?" She glances down at the half drawn picture. It's good, not perfect, but it definitely looks as if it's supposed to be her. Draco has a natural talent for drawing, but it's clear he needs to practice more.

"Well, you were right there, and I was bored..." Draco snatches the parchment back. He tries to act nonchalant as he rolls the parchment back up.

"I didn't know you could draw." An intrigued smile plays on her lips. She notes the fact away for future reference.

"My father says it's a waste of time and that I shouldn't bother with pointless actions such as this." Draco stares down at the parchment.

"Well I think you are a fantastic artist. You should most definitely keep it up. Your father doesn't know what he's talking about and you are daft for listening to him. Parents aren't always right, you know." Vanessa smiles at Draco.

"Well, it's getting late." Draco stands, shoving his things into his bag. "Need a good night's sleep for the exam tomorrow." He slings his bag over his shoulder and gives her a wave before making a beeline for the stairs. That was rather abrupt. He does think so highly of his father though, maybe he's upset she said he was wrong.

"Goodnight to you too," Vanessa calls sarcastically as he walks off. She starts packing her stuff up as well.

"So are you and him like together?" Pansy Parkinson approaches, hands on her hips.

"Uh, no, no we are not." Vanessa eyes her. Despite being in the same room they don't have a lot of interaction together.

"Didn't think so, he has much better taste."

"Excuse me?" Vanessa glares at her classmate. She has never had a problem with her before. Hell, she'd hardly ever had a conversation with her.

"I mean it's obvious, isn't it? He is only friends with you to get back at your brother. He doesn't really care about you." Pansy folds her arms at Vanessa. "Besides your brother is the famous one, not you. He genuinely doesn't gain anything from keeping you around except to piss off Harry Potter."

"Right, thanks, but I don't know who you are to have any say in the matter." Vanessa snatches her bag up and stalks past the pug faced girl. How dare she put her nose in other people's business. She chews her lip in anxiety though. She's had those very thoughts many times. But no... Draco wants her around, he likes to spend time with her.

Vanessa goes to bed angry, taking forever to fall asleep.

"I'm going out of here tonight..." Harry's voice warbles in from no where.

"... Oh come off it, you don't think we'd let you go alone?" Ron's voice says, clearly a chunk of their conversation didn't come through.

A scene brightens, the Great Hall, students happily chatting, all that make it to her ears are celebrating the end of exams. Harry, Ron, and Hermione seem to be sneaking in the hall beyond it, though it seems out of place, or out of time, and their figures are slightly transparent.
