Vanessa sits on the couch in front of the fire, her leg bouncing nervously.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Draco asks, his legs are draped across her lap as they sit there together. He already asked her that like four times.
"I'm fine," she responds yet again.
"Right, and I'm a Mudblood." He rolls his eyes. "What's the matter?" She prickles a bit at the term but doesn't say anything.
"Nothing," she stops bouncing her leg, but in reality she's worried about what Harry is planning. She would go and find him if she even had a clue as to where he's executing his little plan. And she doesn't want to risk getting caught and losing points for Slytherin when they're ahead as much as they are.
"Fine, but you keep up with that leg I may have to get up, it's hindering my thinking." He huffs playfully.
"You, thinking? That's a first." She giggles.
"Shove off," he smiles. His smile quickly disappears when Crabbe and Goyle lumber up, sitting on chairs near the couch. Vanessa sighs sadly.
"Where have you two been all day?" Draco demands. Crabbe mutters a response though Vanessa doesn't hear what.
As the night wears on Vanessa gets less worried and more tired. She is nearly falling asleep sitting on the couch with Draco.
"Alright, off to bed with you," Draco says suddenly, in the midst of telling Crabbe and Goyle a story. Vanessa blinks at him.
"You're nearly asleep, now off to bed," he tells her. She nods and pushes his legs off her lap and starts to stand. He hops up as well and starts walking with her toward her dormitory.
"You don't have to walk me up," she says. "I'm sure you're friends would love to hear the rest of your story."
"Please," he scoffs. "I doubt they were even listening. Besides, you're more fun to talk too." He stops outside the hall leading to the girls' rooms.
"Good night, Vanessa." He smiles and turns and walks away. Vanessa smiles and goes to her room, plopping down on her bed with a sigh. She falls asleep immediately and has no dreams.
Waking the next morning and going to breakfast in the Great Hall, the whole school is abuzz. Vanessa can hear Harry's name among the whispers.
"It appears your brother has captured everyone's attention yet again." Draco sighs as they sit at breakfast.
Vanessa keeps her eyes out for her brother, but he's no where to be seen. Hermione and Ron are at breakfast talking quickly between themselves.
Blaise plops down beside her. "Have you heard about your brother?" He asks.
"All I've heard are the rumors." She responds.
"I hear he's in the infirmary now, overheard the ginger and Mudblood talking," he jerks his thumb at Ron and Hermione.
"Serves him right, messing with things he shouldn't." She crosses her arms, acting as if she doesn't care.
"Yes well, I think we should pay him a visit." Draco butts in. Vanessa ignores his comment.
"Harry used to always say I was the trouble maker, doing things I'm not supposed to, but he made it clear that this year it was really him." Vanessa giggles, talking to Blaise.
"You, a trouble maker? What would make him think that?" Blaise asks.
"I used to take money from the Muggles I live with. And I would occasionally talk back, nothing too bad." She shrugs.
