Travel is a Bitch, but so am I

Rae's POV

We are piled in a couple of big SUVs and headed to the nest to talk to the vamps that are on the wolves territory. This is our first stop of many, can you tell that I am just overjoyed. The nest is in a big abandoned mansion, how original. I look at the wolves in the car with me, "Stay here until I tell you. I don't want them to think we are here for an attack. I will talk to them and then let you know." They start to protest but I silence them with a glare. I hop out and knock on the front door. A young male vamp answers, "Can I help you?" I nod, "I need to talk to the leader." He sighs, "Mason hasn't come back in a couple of days." I smile, "That's because I killed him. He was beyond evil. I am Rae, the Peacekeeper, and I need to know what your purpose here is. You are on werewolf territory." I tell him sternly. He looks at me, shocked. "You killed Mason? We are free! Thank you, Rae. I am Allen. Please tell your friends to come in. We are no longer a threat." I nod and wave the team in. Gage, Smoke, Tank, Xavier, and Gabe climb out of one SUV and Elliot, Justin, Lucy, and Nat climb out of the other. We all enter the house, which looks as bad inside as outside and see about thirty very young vamps, they are between the ages of 18 and 30. Christ, Mason was using kids. 

"What was Mason up to?" I ask Allen. He looks down, ashamed. "We were being controlled by him. Since we are all too young to resist his powers, he used us to try and take the territory over from the wolfmen. We had no idea what he was talking about, until we got here. We are sorry, but we really didn't know what we were doing." His eyes are pleading. Shit, he thought I was going to kill him. "Don't be scared, we aren't going to hurt you. Do you want to go home to your families?" He nods, smiling. "How did you get here? Where are you from?" I ask him. "Mason teleported us here in small groups. We are from New Orleans." Fuck, that is Gaston's Territory. "You are part of Gaston's Coven?" He nods and smiles. Fuck, Fuck, Fuck. Stupid Vamps! "Ok, Teleportation it is then. Gage, are your vehicles safe here?" He looks at me with a raised eyebrow and nods. I take a deep breath. "OK, everyone make sure you are ready and hold hands." Once the circle is complete, I teleport them to New Orleans. 

I do really love this city, I just hate the fact that I have to visit Gaston. We used to kind of date, well, more like have a lot of sex and eat a lot of food, but I haven't seen him in over six months and the last time I did see him, it didn't end well. I make sure my face is void of any emotion as we make our way to the coven's main house, everyone follows behind me. They are all being quiet and that isn't helping my nerves. Finally, Xavier jogs up next to me, "Didn't you have a thing with Gaston?" I nod. "Yes and it didn't end well." I whisper trying not to let Gage hear. "This is going to be so much fun." Xavier wiggles his eyebrows at me. If he only knew, he wouldn't be laughing.

As we reach the door, it opens and there stands Gaston, in all his glory. Six foot tall, lean muscular build, blonde hair, icy blue eyes, and a perfect mouth curved into a slight smile. "Rae, what a pleasant surprise. I haven't seen you in a while." Gaston says in a velvety voice.  I watch as Xavier shivers, let the fun begin. "Gaston, are you missing some children?" I motion to the group of young vamps behind me. "Thank you, you found them. Wait, how did you even know that they were gone? I haven't gone to the council yet, they haven't been missing long enough to file." He eyes me suspiciously. "Typical, I found them on wolf territory in Mississippi with Mason." I roll my eyes at him. "Mason!? That bastard, I will rip him limb from limb! Did he hurt my children?" I smile, "Easy there, big fella, they are all ok. As for Mason, he won't bother you anymore."   "Or anyone else, Rae Rae took him out." Smoke says from behind me. Gaston looks at the team like he just realized that they were there. "Who are your friends, Rae? Allen, take everyone to get checked out and then for some rest. I will check on everyone in a bit." Gaston says. I introduce everyone and when I get to Xavier, they lock eyes. "Mate!" Gaston says, shocked and I start laughing. Everyone is looking very confused except Smoke and I. Smoke tosses me a wink and a smile. Gaston grabs Xavier by the hand and drags him off, yelling over his shoulder, "Make yourselves at home. Rae, you know the way around." 

We all take a seat in the living room. "OK, what the hell was that?" Tank asks. I look at him and raise an eyebrow, "That was two people finding their mates. It isn't complicated, Tank." He shakes his head, "I know but they are both men. That means they are gay?" I nod, "Xavier has always been gay, he knew from a young age. Vampires are a bit different in that aspect. They don't see a person as a man or a woman, they see them as just a person. So, if they have an attraction, they act on it, unless they have found their mate. All vampires are essentially bisexual." Tank thinks on it for a moment. "Shouldn't that be how everyone is?" I nod, "I think so. My relationships have not always been with men. If I met someone and we clicked, we clicked. Does being gay both you?" I ask him honestly. He shakes his head. "Of course not, I have known a few gay men, I have just never seen them meet their mates before, I almost wondered if mating was simply a way to reproduce." 

I need to brief them a little about vamps while we are waiting for the love birds. "Ok, now, there are a few things you need to know while we are here. Vamps eat food and drink blood. This coven as well as most, only drinks from willing donors or animals. From what I understand, having them feed during sex is very erotic and heightens your pleasure. If you wish to and are asked, you are more than welcome. Gaston is open to all species, he is a good vamp. Vamps can have certain gifts and powers, it is different for each of them. Just relax and be yourself here. These people are your friends." Gage grabs my hand, "How do you know about feeding and sex?" I laugh, "I told you I was no virgin, Gage. However, I have never allowed anyone to feed from me. I have no idea what effect my blood would have on a vamp or anyone else for that matter." He furrows his brows, "Have you been with Gaston?" I knew this would happen, but I refuse to lie to him. "Yes, it was nothing but sex and it ended a little over six months ago. He tried to feed from me without my permission, that is a big no no, I got pissed and left. Since it wasn't really anything, he didn't bother me again. Now, we each have our mates and the past is in the past." I kiss Gage on the cheek to soothe the anger in his eyes. "I don't want anyone else, Gage, just you." I whisper in his ear as I nibble on it, making him shiver. He is about to kiss me when Gaston and Xavier waltz back in the room, looking a bit rumpled.

The interruption causes a big sigh from Gage and I laugh. "Rae, are munching on that wolf?" Gaston asks, smirking. "Why, yes I am. He is my mate." I wink at him and he looks at me like I have lost my mind. "You have a mate? I didn't even know that was possible! He isn't going to kill me, is he? I just met my mate and I am too young to die." This causes my to fall off the couch laughing. Gage picks me up and puts me in his lap, "I won't kill you because she was honest about your relationship and I like Xavier too much to kill his mate." Gage smirks at Gaston and then winks at Xavier causing all of us to laugh. After the laughter dies down, I get down to business. "Gaston, we came here to return your children but also to see if you would join our fight to put an end to the way the HC runs things. If they had their way, you would never even know Xavier, countless people are under attack from things they didn't even know existed so they are unable to prepare themselves." Gaston nods, "I understand, tell me all about this plan that I know you have." So we spend the next hour talking over the plan and of course, I make dinner. 

"There are not enough rooms for you each to have your own, so you will have to double up. Rest well friends and you can continue to gather your troops, I will call on my Vampire allies and keep you informed on my progress." Gaston bids us goodnight and we all head off for some rest, even though I know that Gage and I will not be getting a ton of sleep.
