Rae's POV

After visiting Supers all over the country, the word was spreading that the resistance was starting. We had returned to the pack house in Mississippi so that everyone could rest. I was currently laying the warm circle of Gage's arms when my phone started to ring. "Hello?" I answered. "Thank goodness, my dear girl. You need to come home immediately. There are problems arising and we need our Peacekeeper here to protect the High Council." Octavius gushed. "Calm down, O-Man. I'll be there in a couple hours." I told him calmly. "Drat, I wish there was a faster way, but we will live until you arrive. Please hurry and I will brief you as soon as you land. Be safe, Rae, we need you." Octavius says quickly as he hangs up. I make sure and shield Gage and I, just in case. "Why did you say you would be there in a couple hours, can't you just teleport there?" Gage asks raising an eyebrow. "Yes, but the HC doesn't know the full extent of my abilities and I don't intend for them to find out. I need to know who I can trust, I know for sure I can trust Ralph, but I am not sure about Octavius. I think that Dean will help, but only to try to give the Demons more power. Lynn is defiantly against the HC's choices, I have heard her argue daily about their policy. Louis is not going to be on our side, he wants power and he knows if we win, he lose his. Sandra is the same." I sigh. I am packing everything back in my bag, "How are you going to cover my mark? You said you don't want them to know about me." Gage sighs, wrapping his arms around me. I look into his eyes, "That will be the test, to see if Octavius is on our side or not. I won't tell him who, but he will know that I have found my mate and I will see what his play will be." I kiss him deeply before making my way to airport. It hurts to leave him, but we have to do this in order to free the world from the grip of the HC. 

I am climbing off the plane and come face to face with Octavius. I am a bit nervous but I swallow it and hug him. He smiles then frowns. "You found your mate? He marked you and you mated? What were you thinking? I told you they will kill him if they find out!" He roars at me. I meet him gaze, unflinching. "I will never tell them who he is and I will defend him with my life. I am allowed to love. I have feelings, emotions! I am not some fucking robot! Damn, Octavius, you know what is like to have a mate, to love, to hurt, to be alone! Don't take this from me." I am almost sobbing, damn, I'm good. "No, my dear girl, I won't. You have my word. I had a mate once too. She was beyond perfect, but she was a fox shifter and our love was forbidden. They killed her, she was pregnant with my child. I know what pain you are in and I would never put you through it. Maybe we should allow the resistance to win." He turns his teal eyes to meet mine. I am shocked. "You want to overthrow the HC?" He nods, "The power has gone too far. I am powerless to stop them on my own, but with the resistance and with you, we can stop them. What do you say?" He didn't notice the protective shield I placed around us, I didn't want anyone to know about Octavius being part of the resistance. I searched his soul for lies, and found none. That is a cool gift from my Angel DNA. So I told him almost everything.

We arrived at HC HQ and I headed to my emergency quarters to shower and change before reporting to the Council. Dressed in my nice pinstriped Armani suit and heels, I strode in the main room. It look like a large courtroom but instead of one judge, there were six. I stood in front of the podium and looked each Ancient in the eye before the meeting began, why, because I was at very least their equal, but honestly I was stronger, fast, more powerful, and far smarted then them, not to toot my own horn or anything.

Louis was the first to speak. "Peacekeeper, we are glad to see you again. There is a lot of talk going around about the growing resistance. I need you to find the person leading this group and bring them here, we need to make a very public example of them. They need to know that WE are in charge. WE are the leaders. WE have the power to end them."  Sandra nodded, "Well said, Louis. We have stood in power for over two thousand years, we know what is best for everyone as a whole. The mixing of the species is an abomination. " This makes my blood boil, she just called me an abomination, to my face. I take a deep breath, but before I can open my mouth, Ralph speaks. "You just called our Peacekeeper an abomination. You are an idiot. Her creation was partially your idea. Can you not see that your whole theory goes against nature?" Lynn agrees, "He is right, mates are found with in other species for a reason. Who are we to stop such a pure thing?" Octavius is next to speak, "I propose we take a vote, we need to know who is for allowing the natural order of life to resume or who is for the continuance of segregation." Louis nods, "Very well, all those who are for continued segregation, say 'I'". Sandra and Louis are the only ones that reply "I".

Dean speaks up, "There you have it, Louis. You have been outvoted. Now we must make a plan to help them all cope with integration. Any ideas, Rae? You have spent time with each species, do you think that you can help?" Before I can speak, the room freezes. Sandra is chanting and her spell works on everyone except Her, Louis and myself. I pretend it works on me so that I can tell what is going on. "This is a disaster, Louis. How are we going to fix it this time?" Sandra hisses. Louis sighs, "We will simply kill them and replace them with people we can control. They can't fight back right now." Sandra nods, "And what about the Peacekeeper?" Louis looks right at me, "She cannot die, you know this, but maybe we can compel her to kill them and then lock her away forever." A sinister smile breaks loose on Sandra's face. "I love it." Louis walks up to me an looks deep into my eyes, and using his compulsion, tells me to go back to my room, gather weapons and attack the four other members. I act like it works and head off to my room.

I gather the weapons I need to take out Sandra and Louis and probably a few guards. I put up my shields and teleport to Gage. I scare the shit out of him and he screams, making me giggle. "What the fuck, Rae!" he growls at me. I explain what is going on and tell him to gather the others, war has begun. He nods and teleport back to my room.

I walk calmly back to the meeting room and wait. Sandra unfreezes the room and looks at me expectantly. I smirk at her. I chant a spell that binds Louis and Sandra to their chairs. "What is the meaning of this, Peacekeeper!" Louis screams.  I smile, "You messed with the wrong girl. Your powers don't work on me." I look at the remaining council members and project the conversation that took place, like a movie. Four angry pairs of eyes turn to Louis and Sandra. Ralph is the first to speak, "This is true treason. You are greedy and corrupt. I vote you be put to death." Dean nods, Lynn nods, and Octavius nods. Ralph turns to me, "As Peacekeeper, you have the duty to carry out their punishment. Please proceed." I leap to action, decapitating Louis first then dousing him with the white flames. Once he is gone I do the same to a screaming Sandra. "Ding dong the witch is dead." Lynn giggles, making Dean laugh and Ralph shake his head. "We now have two empty seats, Rae, would you like to put in for a council position?" They all look at me. "No, thank you. I am not meant to lead, I am meant to serve." Dean smiles, "That is why you would make a good council member. You are kind and compassionate, but also tough."
