Rae's POV

I shake my head. "I have to tell you all the truth. I found my mate. I didn't even think it was possible, but I did. I also started the resistance. I have watched the HC for many years destroy so many lives and it bothered me. I just couldn't take it anymore. I understand if you are angry, I mean I am the Peacekeeper, but I was starting a war." I bowed my head, waiting for my punishment. "Sometimes, war is the only way to create peace, Rae. You have done nothing wrong. I have watched you grow and have seen you during your missions. I have seen the good that you do, no matter the personal cost. You have openly defied the High Council time after time, but only for the good of the people. You are God's greatest gift to the world." Ralph said, passionately. Dean nodded, "Your team, I have seen them. A group of several different species, pulling together because of you. You are a born leader, a born ruler. You have power beyond anyone on the face of the earth, you could overthrow everyone and make them bow to you, but you don't. You use your power to help, to heal, and to love. I believe we should make you our great leader. A step above the council, to keep order."

"What?! Are you nuts? Have you met me? I am a hot mess! Look, I don't know how to lead." I am beyond confused. "Yes you do." I turn to the voice behind me and see Xavier leading the Team into the room. "You have the ability to make anyone want to follow you anywhere." Smoke says stopping next to me. "I know I would follow you right in to the pits of Hell." Gage says putting a hand on my shoulder. The team agrees. I look up at Octavius with pleading eyes, he shakes his head, laughing. "My dear girl, you are the chosen leader. The Queen." He bows, suddenly, everyone is bowing. SHIT! "Woah, wait, I am the youngest person here, How can I be a leader?" Ralph stands, "Fine, we shall vote, all in favor of Rae Ann being the Queen, say I." The room erupts with 'I's. He grins widely, "The 'I's have it, my Queen." Smart ass, smug, Arcangel.

Time has been going by quickly since I was declared the Queen. We have been working on integration plans and looking for replacements for Sandra and Louis. Work is endless, but I have never been happier. The world will be as it should. I know there will be wars, fighting, death and destruction, but that is part of life. Right now we are working on forming the Royal Guard. Blah. Boring, I don't need protection, but everyone agrees that people shouldn't know about my vast powers. We are meeting with the President and several world leaders tomorrow to discuss how to proceed with integrating humans, they are the most fragile, physically and mentally.

I am laying in my bed, wrapped in Gage's arms, he is sleeping but I am wide awake. I feel like the weight of the world in on my shoulders. I wiggle free and head out to the kitchen. Smoke is sitting at the table, munching on a sandwich. He looks up at me, "Couldn't sleep either?" I shake my head. "Why is it that people think I can do this? I am so scared that I am going to screw everything up. I am just a girl." I whine and he laughs. "You are an extraordinary girl that inspires people to want to follow you. You are a natural leader, and if you have have troubles, you talk to the council. You are a team, you keep them in check and they keep you in check." That makes me feel a bit better. "Thanks, Smoke. By the way, good luck tomorrow." He tilts his head, "What do you mean?" I smile, "Your mate is coming. He is wonderful!" I kiss his cheek before returning to Gage and drifting off to sleep.

I am dressed in an emerald green dress that hugs my curves and black velvet open toed pumps, my hair is up in a fancy braided bun and I have a string of pearls around my neck. I look sophisticated and ready to meet important people. I am nervous and worried about saying all the wrong things. "You look beautiful, Rae. Don't worry, you will be wonderful." Gage says as he comes out of the bathroom dressed in a smart black three piece suit, white shirt and green tie that matches my dress. Damn, he looks hot in a suit.

The meeting is long and boring but the humans agree to our terms, allowing Supers to me known and walk freely with the same rights as humans. The children will all go to the sames schools and our history will be taught along with theirs. We will work on a plan to change some of the studies to better teach all the children about the different species and so on. They also agree to the hierarchy, now there will be seven High Council seats, the new one being human and their councils will be their government that is already in place. We will be working on new laws and punishments, court systems, prisons, and so forth. There will be many changes in the future, but I have a feeling that they will all work out.

Volunteers are gathered at the High Council's training grounds to see who will become the Royal Guard. Gage, Smoke, Tank, Xavier, and myself are standing in front of a group of men and women of all species. "You are all here because you have passed the several qualifying rounds, you are the final fifty, of you, five will take the top Royal Guard positions, the rest will be free to choose to stay and join the Royal army, or Police force, or go about your lives." Gage's voice booms. No one knows who I am, for good reason. I am scanning the crowd and see the face I have been waiting for. He is tall and well built with lean muscle, like a runner. He has soft floppy auburn hair and brown eyes. I jog up to him, while no one is paying attention. "What's your name, Soldier?" He is a fox shifter, perfect. "Alex, ma'am." I scoff at him, "Please, my name is Rae, I am younger than you, don't 'ma'am' me." He laughs. "What can I do for you, Rae?" I smile, "Come with me, I think you should meet someone." He furrows his eyebrows, but follows me back the the guys. "Smoke" I call out and Smoke turns to me and locks eyes with Alex and I smile widely. "Can you show Alex where the equipment room is, please?" I bat my eyelashes at him, he nods, "Follow me." Alex looks at me and back at Smoke. I shoo him along and he trots off after him.

"You are a little minx, you know that?" Gage laughs and the rest of the guys join him. I smile, "Did you know he was gay?" He nods and so does Tank, "He is best friend, I know more than he thinks. I am happy for him." Gage smiles and we go back to the task at hand. After a full afternoon we have narrowed down the Royal Guard to three men and two women. The rest have chosen to join the army. I am happy with our choices. "Has anyone seen Smoke or Alex? Xavier asks. I shake my head, "I think they got lost on the way to the equipment room." I tell him, wiggling my eyebrows, make them all laugh.
