Waillington,
"Professor Pine's Laboratory, well this must be it," Phil opened the door and saw something amazing! The whole lab was full of Pokemon. There was an arena where two scientists appeared to be studying the attack Stun Spore. A Butterfree was repeatedly using the move on a Raticate, who wore a strange hat like thing with several wires coming out of it. There was a station full of sleeping Pokemon, all hooked to strange machines, perhaps they were studying Pokemon dreams.
After walking to the back of the room, Phil asked a scientist, "Hello, I was wondering where I could find Professor Pine?"
"The Professor is in the back." Phil was heading towards the back when he noticed that the experiments disappeared being replaced by dozens of computers and memory banks. He finally reached the back and knocked on the door.
"Hello, who is there?" came a voice from inside the room.
"Professor Pine, my dad, Horace, told me to come meet you. I am Phil," he replied.
"Ah, I have been waiting on you. Give me just a minute."
Phil waited for about ten minutes. Blazer ran back and forth, and almost knocked over a twenty-foot-tall computer tower. Phil decided to recall Blazer back into his Luxury Ball before something happened. Just then a Staravia came out on a stretcher.
"Make sure it gets plenty of rest, and that it does not fly off!" Seeing Phil, the Professor walked over. "That Staravia hit a power wire. The poor thing need some medical attention. That is one of the many things I do. I do not only study Pokemon, but I also help them to get better after severe injuries. Come with me I have something I want to give you." Professor Pine walked to the left, and Phil followed him. "I have heard all about you saving a Growlithe pup from an Arcanine, tell me is it true?"
"Yes sir, it is true, all of it."
"Well then, it seems I have made a wise decision."
Phil was led into a room with two other trainers.
"Hello! My name is Railyn and I love to breed Pokemon, but I think all Pokemon have potential. For instance, the best bred have the best chances for what they have been bred for, but stink at other things. Whereas less bred Pokemon are usually a little more well-rounded. My Pokemon is a Dratini named Silas."
"Hey, I'm Henry. I love to battle, and I just adore my little Totodile, Geo." Phil felt the difference between him and Henry immediately. He knew they would not get along.
"Denny, are you going to talk?" the Professor asked. Phil looked around for this person, and jumped noticeably when a trainer in fatigues leaned out of the shadows.
"Well, I am Denny, and my Froakie, Sir Kane, always has my back."
Stepping forward Phil said, "My name is Phil, and Blazer, my Growlithe, is rearing to fight. So, Professor, why are we here?"
"Excellent question, Phil! Come this way. As trainers you travel, and you see many kinds of Pokemon. Many trainers do not recognize these Pokemon, and as a result you may train them wrong. This hurts the Pokemon. So, I am giving you a Pokedex. It is full of information on Pokemon, and records what Pokemon you have seen, where you have seen them, and how many you have seen," He handed them each a red, metal square. "Pull it apart to activate, the Pokedex," Professor Pine instructed. They pulled them apart.
"Cool, look it's you Blazer!" Phil said. He had scanned Blazer.
'Growlithe the puppy Pokemon. It is fiercely loyal to its trainer, and will defend them at all costs. It inhabits forests, where they hunt Deerling. They are frequently used by law enforcement. This Growlithe is male and knows the following moves Bite, Ember, Roar, and Odor Sleuth'
"Yes, the Pokedex has very much of the known information on each Pokemon. The more common the Pokemon the more information we have. Now it is time, I have a friend in Geraldsville who has a mysterious Pokemon with multiple evolutions. He thinks that some more may be revealed soon."
"Oh no, Geraldsville, that means the Waillington Forest! It is full of extremely dangerous Pokemon!" Railyn squeaked.
Phil rolled his eyes, "I am friends with many Pokemon in the forest. They are mostly quite nice once you get to know them. My dad took me with him when he checked on the environment. He is a Pokemon Ranger."
Now Henry rolled his eyes, "Well not everyone has a Ranger for a dad you know."
"Yes, well I think you should be off as there are no gyms here for you to challenge. Assuming that is what you plan on doing," Pine suggested.
"Of course, we do!" Henry and Phil shouted.
"Although because, my mom's birthday is tomorrow. I will not be able to leave yet," Henry said.
"I said I would celebrate with them, so that counts me out as being able to leave today," Railyn said.
"Well I didn't say that you had to leave today! Do what makes you happy! Nothing more, nothing less," Professor Pine bid them, "Now off! Go make your adventure."
Outside the lab,
"I better get home," Henry said.
"Me too, but I hope to see you soon!" Railyn said in farewell. Then they both left for home. Railyn doing a little skip. Henry running, apparently just for pleasure.
"So, your dad is a Ranger?" Denny asked him.
"Yea, my dad and my mom oversee of the Swablu Sanctuary just a few miles north of here. It is a fairly popular local destination, especially in the summer," Phil replied.
"I was thinking, between the two of us, the Waillington Forest wouldn't break a sweat," Denny said.
"Yea, plus you might go crazy by yourself. The more the merrier!" Phil said. Then they struck out. They reached the forest and....
