A/N As I write this remember, Pokemon replace animals. That means all meat in the Pokemon universe had to come from Pokemon. That is how it works.

They reached the forest and, they stopped.  There was a Pokemon Ranger blocking the way. "The forest is currently unsafe.  The Pokemon are riled up, posing a threat to anyone traveling through," He said.

"Kleve, is that you?" Phil asked.

"Oh, Phil!  You've grown since I last saw you.  I presume you are on your Pokemon journey."

"Yea, can you let us through?  You know I have a way with the Pokemon in the forest."

"Sure, you have Blazer and the Pokemon here mostly like you, but who is this guy?" Kleve inquired.

Denny suddenly spoke up, "I am Denny.  We are on an errand from the Professor."

"Well, I am sure you will be fine.  Now off!  Before I change my mind, or your dad calls and specifically tells me not to let you through," Kleve instructed.  So off they went into the forest.  Phil, Denny, and Blazer climbed over logs, beat back bushes, and detoured around rivers.  The group saw several young Deerling as they hiked.

"We are getting pretty deep into the forest," Denny remarked.

"Yea, we had better set up camp for the night," Phil replied.  They then unpacked their gear.  Phil had his tent and an inflatable mattress he had gotten for his birthday.  He also had a Dutch Oven, some canned beef, a small shovel, and a can of fire starter.  Denny had his tent, a frying pan and holder, a few cans of Cornn berries, a bow, and fire-starting supplies.

"Well, thanks to our Pokemon all we need is wood, a few berries, and some fresh meat would be nice," Denny said.

"If you get berries and wood, I will take Blazer and track down a Deerling," Phil suggested.

"Sounds good to me.  You should find one quickly with Blazer at your side."

"Yea, plus me and my dad used to come hunting here every autumn.  Since, Deerling are plentiful there is no season, just tags, and I have plenty of tags."

"Good luck!"

They trekked into the forest.  After about thirty minutes they came upon a Luxray in their path. Phil froze.

"Don't move," he commanded Blazer.

The Luxray looked at them, and Phil recognized it.

"Hey, Jade, I see you have grown," Phil said.

Jade nodded, and she pushed forward a little puffball.

"Is this your.... son?"

Jade nodded, then pushed the Shinx closer, and she knocked a Luxury Ball from Phil's belt.

"Do you want me to take him with me?  Does he want to see the world?"

She nodded again.

"I am deeply honored. I will show him many things, and take great care of him."  Phil picked up the Luxury Ball and put the Shinx in it.  "Have you seen any Deerling around?"

She pointed west with her tail.

"Thanks!" Phil said, then he was off.

"Smell anything?" Phil asked.  Blazer nodded and led the way.  They reached a clearing, where a couple Deerling frolicked in the grass.  Phil pulled an arrow to his cheek, breathing deeply, he aimed and released his arrow.  He hit the leftmost Deerling straight through the heart.  Phil let the other one go.  "Well good, a nice clean shot, it didn't suffer," Phil remarked.  He then walked over, tagged it, retrieved his arrow, lifted it on his shoulders, and headed back to camp.
