Aura Monastery,
Just then bells began to ring, and Sensei Jotishu said, "It must be Team Domination. They are here for the newly discovered scrolls. Take them and find out what the they mean. Denusho can translate them. They are better protected in your hands. Denusho take a training tome, you know the one. Now go! I do not know if they will manage to sneak in."
Denny and Phil took the scrolls and ran.
"Follow me," Denny whispered. As they ran Denny grabbed a sword. He then stopped at a room that was filled with scrolls and tomes. The young Aura Guardian ran over to a stack of them and pulled off the topmost one. They ran down a few hallways into a large room. Denny walked to a stall and opened it.
"Hey, Honey, long time no see. Phil get on!" An amber Ponyta came out. Phil hopped on. The duo rode for an hour before they had to get off. The Ponyta then ran back to the monastery.
"We should get off the trail and make camp," Denny suggested. They went about thirty meters off the trail. Something they would be glad of later. Since a fire would give away their position, they did not kindle one. After a few minutes it was decided that Jes, or Blazer should stand watch, as their night vision would let them better see any threat. Denny and Phil would take turns staying up with one of the Pokemon, but first they had much to discuss.
"Denny what did your father mean when he said to train me in your ways?"
"There is an ancient art, remembered by few. Some posses it has a gift. They are able to learn the art easily. Father must see potential in you, or he would not have told me to train you."
"When do we begin?"
"On the road after Geraldsville. I want you to have time between Gyms to learn to control it, ot you might lose control in such a heated battle."
"Ok, so are you taking first watch?"
"Yes, good night."
"Good night Denny."
The night went smoothly. Early the next morning they heard a rustling from he road. Denny motioned for them to stay here. He stealthly approached the road, disappearing from view for a moment before returning.
"It is a group of bandits. They have waylaid two travelers. I did not get a look, but I did see a woman's shoe and a hiking boot. They are tied to a tree on the far side of the road," Denny reported.
"We have to help," Phil replied. Then he darted to the road. He quickly took in he situation. Two bandits stood holding swords. The criminals turned got one look of them and ran. "I wonder why they ran?"
"Probably because they recognized the look in my eyes," Denny said.
Phil jumped, "Don't sneak up on me like that!"
"Phil, Denny?" Phil looked at the tree and did a double take.
"Railyn, Henry, are you okay?" he asked.
"I am, but Henry put up a fight. He needs medical attention."
Denny untied them and pulled out a white box, "I will put splint on his leg. Then we can make a stretcher from these two large sticks, the rope, and a canvas we have back at camp. Phil, will you go get the canvas?"
"Sure." Phil reached camp and grabbed the canvas. When he got back the stretcher was almost done. "You work fast!"
Denny looked up, "Pass me the canvas. Then can you go pack up. Since we did not make a fire it should not take long," Phil hurried to pack up camp. When he got back they had carefully moved Henry onto the stretcher.
"Geraldsville is not far. We can make it in thirty minutes," Denny informed them.
"Then why did we stop?" Phil asked.
"I stopped because the it was dark, and the rest of the path is covered in roots," he replied. They carefully trecked over the roots covering the rest of the road. They reached town about an hour later. Railyn slowed them down because she insisted on staying by Henry's side, even when the trail was to narrow. Henry was immediatly accepted into the emergency room.
Geraldsville Area Hospital,They had been waiting for two hours when a nurse came out, "Henry lost alot of blood, but he will be okay. He will have to stay in the infirmary for a couple days to ensure that he does not reopen the wounds and that the bones set."
"Should we wait on him to be released before going to the Professor's friend?" Railyn asked them.
"I think he would appreciate that," Denny responded. They both looked at Phil.
"Don't look at me. I barely know the guy!" Phil answered.
"Well if that case, and we are waiting on Henry. I think I am going to go. I have something to work on," Denny said.
"Yea, I need to train for the Pokemon League Gym," Phil remarked. He and Denny left. Denny pulled him aside.
"The Geraldsville Gym is a Nomal type Gym. Rock, Steel, and Fighting type Pokemon would be a huge advantage. Rock and steel Pokemon resist normal attacks, and fighting attacks do more damage to the unarmored Pokemon."
"Okay, thanks for the tip. I will look for some when I am out and about," Phil walked to the local super market and stocked up on Potions, Antidotes, Paralyz Heals, Great Balls, and some rope. He then traveled to the nearest cave, Jade Passage. Jade Passage also served as a shortcut to Hamilton, the largest city in Campagna. Unfortunately, the deeper parts of the cave have Pokemon too powerful for him to battle.
He walked the cave and switched on his headlamp, "Time to Pokemon hunt." He searched for hours, but he could not find a Pokemon that he liked. He saw several Geodudes, but he had never liked their attitudes. He noted a couple Onixes as they tunneled, but thought they were to big. He came across a dozen or so Machops, but he did not like how muscle focused they were. He found a strange rock that he thought looked like a fossilized canonball.
He left the cave at dusk, and in great disappointment. He did not know Geraldsville very well, so he went to the visitor center. He only knew were Jade Passage was thanks to his regional map. He looked at the pamplets and noticed one for the Fossil Center. It told how you could find fossils in Jade Passage. The most common were Skull Fossil, and the Root Fossil. It described the Skull Fossil as looking like a ball of iron. He pulled out his rock and looked at it closely. It resembled the Skull Fossil's description. He read how they can be revived into Pokemon. He thought he would head over to see if his rock was a fossil.
He walked outside and nearly ran into Denny, "Phil, I interpreted the scroll. It is a map to a larger stash of information. It was written not only in an ancient language, but in code."
"Wow, where is the stash?" Phil asked.
"I think near Forental. The next city on our route," Denny said, "I got to go. I need to visit the Fossil Center."
Fossil Center,He reached the Fossil Center just before it closed. He was amazed at the collection of fossils. He walked up to the clerk, "Sir, can you tell me if this is a fossil?" He looked at it carefully.
"I think it might be," he said, "Take to the back. If Dr. Fernando thinks it is a fossil he will revive it for you."
"Okay, thanks!" Phil thanked the clerk. He darted to the back, "Dr. Fernando, are you back here?"
"Yea, are you here to revive a fossil?" he asked.
"Well, I am not sure if it is a fossil or not."
"Bring it here," Dr. Fernando came from around a computer bank, "Yes, this is a Skull Fossil. It revives into a Cranidos. It will be tommorow before it is revived."
"Okay, that is fine with me. I better go hit the sack," Phil answered.
"See you late tommorow morning," the Dr. said. Phil walked out the door, got to the hotel, hit the sack, and when he woke up....
