Semi Gods [Seventeen apply fic]

The newcomers entered the hall and stopped right behind Vernon, Suzu and I. it was weird to be at the front row and I wished some of them, at least one more would step closer to me so that some of the attention was taken away from me. Instead, Hera took the chance to raise her voice again.

"Welcome children. I am glad you all arrived safely. I see that my daughters choice was as well as expected of the goddess of wisdom, since I am recognize some of you again", she nodded gracefully, but I didn't miss the angered look on Athena's face. The mother of gods really seemed to have a hand for getting on everyone's nerves.

"Well, you might wonder, why I asked you all to come", her face changed to sad frown, that couldn't really trick anyone and she continued, "My poor husband, king of gods and god over sky and law, contracted a horrible disease. He fell into madness and with him his brother Poseidon... ". Hera was about to continue but got interrupted by a tall handsome guy, who stepped out of the crowd, "What?"

Hera raised an eyebrow in anger, "How dare you interrupt me, Jun, son of Poseidon! Get back in line". Her voice echoed through the hall and I could feel like the other semi gods around me froze. At that point, I decided that Zeus wife was not the least bit better than him and from my moms and Athena's angered faces, they felt exactly the same.

Jun still stood at his spot in front of Suzuna and didn't move an inch. I saw my friend worryingly take his arm and pull him back. "Don't be dump. You can't reason with a god", she whispered at him.

Hera turned around for a second after her outbreak, but returned with a bright smile, making me question her sanity as well. "Where were we? Right! Your task! I need you to full fill three tasks to cure Zeus from his illness and make sure no one else of the gods will get insane as well".

I stared up at Hera. They were gods, they could kill or bring someone back to life with a swift of their hand, why did they always sent us to do their work?

"There are three tasks. Dionysus, please explain the missions", Hera stepped back and for a short second her steps didn't seem as strong and fierce as usual.

Dionysus nodded and started to explain, "As the god of madness and wine, I have quite my fair share of dealing with madman, but I have never seen something similar. From what I know, the illness didn't originate in anything psychological or age related, but from a deep and old source that aimed it directly at us gods. I don't know yet, whether it is actually contagious or whether it will have an impact on monsters or semi gods as well, but we will have to reckon with the worst. To make matters worse, we aren't getting any answers from Hades, since Zeus and Poseidon fell ill there is a high chance that he as well became crazy, or ...", and here he shot Hera a short look, signalising that he couldn't agree less with his next words, "or that everything is his doing".

I doubted that Hades had anything to do with it. According to history or more like myth, Hades hated his brother Zeus for basically banning him into the underworld to go and babysit all the dead souls and defeated monsters. It was no secret that Hades was after Zeus throne for a long time. But that was I the past. In the last greater fight, Percy Jackson and his friends were able to beat Gaia and Cronos thanks to Hades favourite son and a little help of the god himself.

"Since the situation is so drastic and we are short on time, you will have to divide into two groups. Therefore you are so many", Athena stepped forward and began to read out a list of names on a scroll. "The first team will have to make their way into the underworld and check on Hades. Since most of the gods enemies are banned into the Tartarus this will also give you a chance to find the source of the illness. Without sealing the source, there will be no way to stop the madness and none of us will be save anymore. I found a guide for you to lead you to the underworld, you will depart right after the meeting is ended. In the first team will be Aurora, Chae, Emily, Hoshi, Joshua, Jun, Rin, Seungkwan, Sora, Suzuna, Minghao, Mingyu, Minji, Vernon and Woozi", with every name one of the kids stepped to the front and when I heard my name, I followed them. I was relieved when I heard that Suzuna would be in the same group as me but I really could have lived without having to spend the next weeks fighting alongside Vernon.

Athena turned to the remaining ones, "Crystal, Dino, DK, Jeonghan, Lijana, Nao, Nara, Railyn, Seungcheol and Wonwoo will form the second team. Your task will be to find a way to heal the mystical illness. Neither Dionysius nor Hecate nor I could find a way to heal Zeus. The only hope we have left is the collection of died out creatures and ancient plagues. A collection of creatures and illnesses, so old only the titans themselves had seen them yet".

I furrowed my eyebrows, how exactly did they imagine this to be helpful? Something even the gods had never seen? And now they expected us semi gods to find it? Great. So this was one more of their impossible missions. I was kind of relieved that I was selected to join the other team. Sure, dying and fighting a monster that makes even gods crazy and surviving the whole thing didn't seem like a piece of cake either, but at least one of those things should be possible to achieve.

"We think the collection might be in the depths of the sea, since it's the home of the oldest monsters. My brother Hephaistos build a submarine for you, strong enough to travel even the deepest and darkest parts of the sea", Athena explained, "You will leave tomorrow morning, till then Hephaistos should have finished his works".

The hall was deathly quiet. None of us dared to speak, still a bit shocked by the scary future ahead of us.

"Well, that sounds like fun right", Hera clapped her hands together and smiled down at us, "I prepared a small feast for you before you leave", and with a small gesture of her hand, the hall filled with tables and food. "Take your time. Team one, your ride will wait outside of this hall".

With that Hera and the other gods left. I sighed and turned to Suzu, "Let's eat. Might be the last meal for a while".
